I have the tranny out of my parts car. The car has low miles and was never modded but my friend just pointed out that the tranny has a tag that says CH and not BRF. This is an 86 T. Is this normal? I can garauntee the tranny was never pulled. Or am I crazy? Thanks! ------Jeremy

That's not the original trans. It should be a BRF. CH is out of an older chevy.

What are the 2 digits in front of the CH?
That trans , from the info provided, is out of an 84-88 4.3 liter Chevy or 3.8
V6 Chevy. It appears to be a Monte Carlo of plain Jane origin. With the whole serial number off the tag I could even narrow it down more.

Ck the Valve Body and Govenor. It may have been a recase for some unknown reason. Who knows........

OK ths is completely odd. I just took the tag off to clean it up and the front of the tag shows TurboHydromatic CH but............... I cleaned off the grease on the back because I saw little serial numbers and there is BRF that is hand scratched into it. The serial numbers show291-861BRF0905. So whats the deal on this thing??? Is this common?
