Long story short...when I was in high school, G body cars were common for kids to drive. At the time I wanted a Monte or a Regal but could not ever find one that was affordable.

Fast forward to 2005; decided on a spur of the moment to finally buy a Regal since I had wanted one since high school. Found one 30 miles from my house, a 1 owner 2 door coupe from Florida that was in good shape. Drove it a year and a half, then had to sell it. Broke my heart to do so.

Decided I loved it too much but it was too slow as it had the carbed n/a 3.8 V6...always heard stories about the turbo cars being fast....and at the time I had to sell my 71 Chevelle due to a move. So I decided to settle on a turbo model as my next car.

Originally saw my T here for sale in early 2007 but it was sold before I got home from Afghanistan...put an ad in Craigslist that I was looking for one....the guy that bought the car I have now told me he bought on instinct and decided to thin the herd. (he was also selling a 69 Z28)

At first I thought my T was fairly fast but no way faster than my 396 bbc Chevelle it was replacing....that was before I added alky and cranked up the boost from 15 to 23 psi.

Also at the time I had considered an LS1 Camaro but it seems everyone and their brother has one plus I didn't care much for the weak rears and the medeocre clutches (it would have to be a 6 speed) and also I wanted something that was as fast but different.

In 88' My Dad drove me to ELEMENTRY school in his 86' GN. In 88' his car was running 11.90's and nearly untouchable on the street. I bought mine when i was 19, i'm 28 now.

I needed something to go with my new George Thorogood album.

To make a long story short, my parents bought an 87 GN brand new back in 87 from Endicott Buick in Pompano after my dad took it for a test drive. He was originally looking at buying a Monte Carlo SS, but his friend told him to take one of those black Buicks for a test drive so he could see the difference!:D Soon after, my dad started taking the car to the old Hollywood Moroso dragstrip and met a lot of other guys running these cars. Some of them were Buick mechanics and others were guys that had just started tweaking on them. He was hooked and started modding and racing the car and went from running mid 13's with a few things down into the 12.20's with the big bad boy TE34 turbo!:D Me and my bro used to go to the track with him so naturally we both got the bug after watching him beat up on a lot of cars from Vettes, Camaros, Mustangs, and even the first gen Vipers when they came out.

George? He's married to Marla Raderman and has a daughter.

My first time in a gn.my buddy tim got in a car accident and was awarded lots of money thru insurance, his first purchase was 86gn.one day a school during lunch he ask me togo for boot.he raced two cars that day one i beleive was a 86 mustang 5.0 and the other a vette(don't remember the year).Wow he blew them right out of the water.

Dad bought an 85 black Regal new, wanted a GN but could not afford it at the time with family. Our family was into Buicks too. I bought the 85 from him when I was in high school and wished it was a GN. The looks and hype of the GN sold me since about 1989. When I graduated from college in 97, I finally went out and bought my 87 GN, needed work but was still a true GN. I've really enjoyed having it, although I really can't drive it with my family now. Had the engine rebuilt in 99, and just had it stripped and painted last summer....and it looks great!

Hoping to enjoy it this year at a few shows, maybe if I'm lucky my son will get it (if I can keep it long enough). Still have the 85 Regal too, now with a 455. Think its in the blood!

The 84 SFI and CCCI system was featured in an article in a 1983 issue of popular mechanics so I started following the Turbo program at buick. When they sat on the pole at the Indy 500 it made an impression. Decided if I bought a car It would be a turbo buick. Bought my current car in 1986

LONG story. It wasn't the car that hooked me, it was the engine. My first car was a Vega and it had the wimpy 2.3 L 4 banger. I wanted more power and started looking at putting a bigger engine in it. The more that I looked at options the more I liked the Buick V6. Was looking through the paper one day and saw an add for a Skyhawk for $600. Went and looked at it and decided that I would use the engine and tranny to put in the Vega. My mom actually talked me into keeping the Skyhawk. She thought it looked better. I was road racing it and decided to do some mods to the engine to hop it up. The more I hoped it up the more fun it was. Unfortunatly unichasis cars don't work that well on a road course and with the torque the car had I twisted the frame. I'd thought about going tubo in it but never did.

Fast foward some. I moved back to Texas and hooked up with some of my old buds. I left the Skyhawk in the care of one of them and decided to try and get her going again. Much to my dismay it was ruined. I looked for a Regal to replace it and found one locally. Started looking at options and started gathering parts to put a turbo in it when I found an 83 T on evilbay for $500. Reserve wasn't met so I bid for the heck of it. I was the only bidder and the guy sent me a second chance offer, so I bought it for $500. Rust and all. Started looking at ways to mod the C/T system and didn't find a lot. That's the reason for the second link in my sig. If I had the time to do all of my vehicles they'd all get Buick power but right now I'm still trying to finish the turbo for the car and then do some fab work and testing. The 83 is a rust bucket but it will be the one proving what I'm doing. Then the 82 GN will get the frame and drivetrain out of it so I can hopefully make it the fastest stock style C/T early GN.

Been told multiple times but the short version: Worked at the Buick dealership in 86/87. Had an insurance settlement in my hand from where my 86 442 was stolen and totalled in the police chase. Had almost settled on a MOnte Carlo until my best friend (who was a salesman there) took me out to lunch in a GN that was sitting on the lot. Well needless to say the Monte Carlo was soon forgotten. 2 days later I was asked to dealer transfer one of our GN's for a silver T at a dealer in Greensboro. They told me to keep it over the weekend and bring it in Monday in one piece. Slapped a check on the sales managers desk first thing monday morning and have had a love/hate relationship with these cars ever since.

I rode in one in a neighboring town and was like that's it! exactly what i'm looking for. This was in 88 when I was 16. Told my dad that's what I want and he laughed and said "hell no" Bought my first one in 1998 and have had six. I will have another as soon as possible!

I get a lot of guys stopping me at the lights saying "nice ride,is that a 87,does she go,wish i had one".But lately young kids, chicks and older women are stopping me.I wonder if that movie fast and furious has something to do with it.

1987 t-top gn

I bet so...was sitting in the drive thru several weeks ago and a group of boy scouts came out, probably about 8-10 years old, heard one of them saying "Isn't that the same car thats in the Fast and the Furious?!" He was so excited and pointing at the car saying how cool it was... Kind of makes your day when someone that young can tell a GN from a Monte :)

My dad says that when I was 5-6 years old I used to point at the GN's when I saw them and say I wanted one, so know I always have liked the way they look. fyi - born in 1980...

In 87 my Mom and Dad were looking to buy a new car, my Dad and I went to the Buick dealer while running errands for my Mom who was watching my younger sisters. He test drove a regular Regal with the v6 which was more in there price range at the time but my Dad asked to drive the GN. The only one they had was in the showroom, the salesman moved it out of the show room and we went for a ride.
Approaching the first read light the salesman started on my Dad about how fast it is and not to nail it. Needless to say when the light went green he nailed it, with the salesman yelling at him to back off, I was in the back seat yelling cool floor it again. After that ride my dad and I were hooked, and the salesman was pissed.
We went home and later that day my grandparents came down to watch us while my Mom and Dad went back to the dealer. I was sure they were coming back with the GN and I sat at the door for hours waiting.
My mom drove the GN and didn’t like it cause it was too fast which is funny because they were trading in a Iroc Z28. He tried to trick her into a T-type but that didn’t work she realized it was just as fast.
They came home with the regular regal, white, with burgundy interior man was I bummed. With 3 kids in catholic school my Dad never did get his GN but fast forward a bit, in spring of 2000 I bought my GN. I even let him drive it home after I bought it, he beat me home :) I still let him drive it from time to time, hopefully some day he will be able to get one of his own.
