I guess I would like to get a couple of them. The picture is obviously of the broken external plastic part, but the switch is located in the door jamb. Thanks.

It's actually for the seat belt retractor mechanism. I'm not sure where to get one, they might be available through Dorman. If you are able to get one somewhere other than the junk yard please let me know because I need one too.

Got it. Are there any tricks to installing them? I was told the seatbelt needs to be disconnected from the seat and retracted fully...

I like mine broken. That way you don't have to open the door to get the belt to retract.

Seem like all you have to do is remove the mounting screw and slide the assembly out. I can't say for 100% sure as I like mine broken :D

Negative.
The assembly latches to the belt release with a "fork". If I knew where my spare was I'd post a pic. I found it much easier to unscrew the back lower panel, and carefully peel it back to connect the "fork".

LOL - not.

Here ya go Jeryl.
Not to worry.
I got this.

Somewhere in this maze of a hard drive - I have "as assembled" pics as well.
Where I do not know at the moment.

Indeed - instead of when you unlatch it to do a "reach over" and it just falls on your lap - like a limp noodle. :D
If you delete it - then when you unbuckle to do a "reach over" - the seat belt snaps back with authority and she knows who is in charge. ;)
(Not applicable to anyone using the "shorty" console extension - you're on your own there)
And I hate that damned lever scuffing up my door since I don't have the little plastic overlay on the door after paint.
Relocate - to a good place.

Cut it.
Most of them are paper thin from rust and old age.
You can snap it like a twig in most cases.

How many does everyone need.
I'm heading to the Used Parts Superstore if the rain ever stops - and I'll be happy to get as many as people need.
G bodies permitting.
Another piece that when you show the counter guy - after puzzled look - he says - no charge.
I'll sell them for whatever the market bears.
Bids starting at ......:)

If the belt is working correctly then it will retract with the door closed. Like a window shade.
