turbonetics 63 or smaller series turbo with a small shaft-

has a 12 point impeller nut instead of the 6 point like the big shaft turbos? but backing plate is smooth... open it up and find out

:D

Thats a turbonetics turbo,With their exhaust housing, It has the capabilty to bolt up a deltagate, Which is not a very big wastegate and MAY not be enough to control a turbo when it reaches that size. BUT i am not 100% positive on that

If you are not 100% sure ,why would you say something like this? . well i bought it, so ther will be no reture. I will just have to make it work.
thanks

Geeee.... If I was to make a wild guess, I'd say it looked just like a CPT70BB-Q trim turbo.

As for the wastegate hole, that was designed for a Delta gate which is designed to handle about 450hp. It has no bearing on the rest of the housing as that has proven to handle the HP necessary to run 9.40's on a 3500lb Ttype at over 145mph!

Because i ve owned them in the past and that is what i found!, But this is not the past it is the present and they may have changed things, You know, THey call them updates.
But it cant hurt to give a guy some heads up on what you have found that may be pertinent to his situation.
Sorry for trying to help out.

Thank you this is what i want to hear.

jack i will give you a call next week about the delta gate. I was thinking of welding the internal wastegate hole shut. I figure it will help the exhaust gas flow , since i will not be using the internal wastegate.

MY point was that a delta gate will not be able to control boost down to street levels on pump gas. I had 2 inst all a second deltagate on my other car to get boost below 22#s
Of course if you are not using the deltagate setup i t would not have any bearing on this at all. and if you always plan on running high boost you wont have a problem either.
I SHOULD have stated my point a bit clearer for people to understand better

i have a t-72 just like this on my tta with a lee mfg external wg and can run from 12-30+ psi so far

KLHAMMETT, thank for sharing the info, I am not trying to be a wise guy or anything, after all i am sure i can learn a few thing from you. The really like the Hp you are making on your car. so please don`t take this the wrong way. We can all use each other help.
:D

No problem, I just ordered a 76GTQ turbo, should have in a week or so, See if it makes more power than my GT80R did.

It is definetly bigger, But the they usually port the hole in the stock location so that you have better boost control, when used with a stock style puck downpipe and a hole that small you may have a control problem

That GT80 should have been a 720 to 750 rwhp turbo Otto. You going to do a back to back compare ?

YA i am changing nothing on the car even the tune, Changing the turbo and will redyno it. WIth the same boost, timing, and a/f ratio.
THen ill put a little heat in her:D
But i really need convertor change also, but will wait till after the dyno to retest it with a new convertor

Paul, I think we ran like 9.30's at 147 with that GT80R, both you and I with that same turbo. I ran like 26lbs of boost and 24 degrees of timing, if it wasn't for the hydraulic cam I was running at the time I think I had more in it since I would run out of RPM about 3 seconds from the finish line... testing 2 different turbos at the same boost and tune doesn't really speak fairly for either turbo since they have different characteristics and power levels.
My Turbonetics 76 turbo ran 8.90's @ 151 on 26lbs, whats that HP come out to?
