well i recently was brought over to the dark side and im loving it, but my car hasnt run the times that it should:mad: . i have done the spring cleaning maintenance stuff so far, and changed the fuel pump to a walbro 340. but as i am told by the previous owner, that the turbo does not spool up as fast as it once did. he told me that he traced the problem to the EGR valve, i havent got around to changing it but i dont imagine that the EGR would cause the turbo to spool slower than normal. has the turbo just gone bad?? i havent checked if the shaft has a lot of play in it yet but are there any obvious solutions to this problem. it makes a good amount of boost around 15-16lbs (stock turbo) at the top of each gear so im guessing the turbos working properly, but the previous owner tells me that it spools much slower than before. sorry for the book just trying to get my TR clocking the times that it should, thanks.

Spools??

Start w/ the fuel pressure. Since you added a 340, the FP may be high and the engine is running way rich. This will cause slow spool. Having the EGR messed up, usually causes idle problems and is an easy part to test.
You are going to need an adj. FPR, scan tool, FP gauge, H20 & oil press. gauges, VOM, etc to get the car tuned to it's potential.
Try to set the FP at about 40#, line off, engine running.
What chip is in the car?. Converter changed?

Cracked headers will also cause slower spoolup. If they have never been fixed you can be damn sure they are cracked. If they have been fixed, you should look at them again and see for sure. Minew cracked twice even though they were tig welded by someone who knows how to do them properly. Try GM Top engine cleaner (aka "Cleans") and watch for the smoke comeing out of the headers and/or crossover.

well i odnt think that its the FP even though its a bit high, at 52#'s. because the car was slow before the pump if anything the pump helped out a bit. could it be a o2 sensor? becasue its gives me some funny readings sometimes, like it goes to 0 quite often and to my understanding its not supposed to go to 0?? also i will check out the cracked headers.

Did you say 52 PSI fuel press at idle? That's way too high! Set fuel pressure at idle with vacuum line off to 40 psi or 45 psi if your using a thrasher chip.

Even if it isn't the cause of your problem, It sure isn't helping any!
