What would you do

My gf wants to go with me to BG this year but there is a catch.....

I am leaving NJ towing my car (hopefully) on Monday morning, May 12 and I usually arrive in BG in the evening. She doesn't want to burn up her vacation days and want to fly into Nashville. She said that she wants to fly out Wednesday afternoon/evening, May 14 after work. Nashville is 1 hr away from BG. This way she'll use up 2 vacation days. She will ride back with me after the Nats.

Here is the catch.....she wants me to pay for the plane ticket. I told her why do I have to pay for the ticket if YOU want to fly there. I told her that she is more than welcome to ride with me on Monday.

I priced some tickets. Non-stop is in the area of $450 and making stops is around $130-$250. Knowing her, she'll want nonstop

I am paying for her entry tickets and hotel. We split the food.

This is an investment of love down the road when your married or together she'll remember your Generosity or lack of when you need parts for your ride. Just pay the oneway ticket she'll get there in a good mood and not wore out from jumping planes. She doesn't need to be messing around airports for 8 hours when she can be helping you wrench. Get her there quick so you can have fun it's nice to have an old lady that want's to share the Buick experience with you, get her used to it now before she realizes these Turbo Buicks are a Money pit.

When you get back home, thank her for spending her time with you doing something you like. At least you will know you did everything you could to show her you are a gentleman. Chivalry is not dea!!! I foot the bill for everything when my wife goes. It comes out of my play money I have for the GN. I'm just thankful I have a woman that will put up with my stupid hobby.

Pay and the playing should be more fun.
Every time I plan a “Car” trip and my wife wants to go I get a room with a Jacuzzi. It just makes it feel like money well spent.

But when the at the track and this starts
1-I am tired
2-i am bored
3-when is this stupid thing going to be over
4-its too hot
5-it smells like burning rubber
6-and she repeats it 500 times
it reminds me why I always try to go when she can’t take days off from work.

BTW if you don't pay she is going to remind you of the time that you REALLY didn't want her to go on a trip with you.

I know what ur going through Puerto Rican women sometimes have balls & are too controlling. Have her read this : "que cojones tienes" She can't have it all !! She either can burn some vacation days or pay for the tickets. Simple. Trust me, u can't give pr women everything or they'll eat u alive. Just my $.02

a) pretty selfish
b) a power play

To me, if she wanted to enjoy the time with you, she'd just state she's flying out instead of driving....then you could OFFER to cover her flight, and she'd be grateful for the offer- connecting or nonstop.

You're already footing a majority of the bill. Sounds like a ungrateful lady you have there (no disrespect intended).

Of course I'm just a knuckle dragging clueless male of the species......

It depends on how serious you are and how much money you have to spend. If it's a well established relationship and the money is an object then explain that you can't afford a flight (maybe because you want to make sure you have enough just in case something breaks, saving for a ring, etc.) and she should understand that. If it is a fairly new relationship tell her you can't afford it and then try to convince her the road trip is half the fun anyway and it would be worth using the vacation days to get there early and have two days alone with you in a motel. Of course you could compromise. Leave Tuesday (or Monday night) and she only takes one extra day of vacation.
