I sell, install and support XFI systems as well as BS3. I like both units but they have glitches just as many aftermarket parts have. The "no start" issue with the XFI is not a big deal nor is it an isolated incident. I have had 3 units that will go into "flash" mode if there is a low voltage spike (such as cranking with a weak battery or a high tq starter that draws alot of current). It is a simple fix, turn the key off and wait until the green LED drops out and try again. Is this supposed to happen? no, Will it hurt anything? no Do I know why it happens? no, but it should not! It is not really a big deal just something I have learned to accept. This is a small percentage when you take into consideration the amount of units we have sold. I have never lost cam sync or grenaded an engine due to a faulty ECU.If anyone has concerns regarding this, feel free to call me or shoot me an email, dont let this issue alone make your decision NOT to purchase XFI as it is powerful tool with alot of features and can provide excellent results.
I dont know the entire story behind Teds dilema but there was a sequence of events pertaining to his particular ECU after running his best pass ever that led up to a major engine failure. There was someone else at the same event where Ted blew up that had a no start issue as well but I cant remember who it was right now????
P.S. Ted you were way off on the time, it took over 48 hours!
