I tried a search and couldnt bring up anything relevant, but maybe I just suck at searching. all of your input would be great!

I have an 87 GN

15 miles or so in the city per gallon, about 22-25 on the highway. MUCH less if I drive with a heavy foot.

Billy

Up to 17 around in the city driving like a bluehair, but it mostly gets 15 'cause of the heavy foot.

not to hijack the thread but, how does everyone drive the car?

Do you ussually give it boost at a light?

I leave lights and keep rpms under 2000, kinda boring.

Do you guys give boost while cruising?

I cruise both in 3rd and OD at about 2200rpms.

Is it OK to drive in 3rd at around 2600rpms?

I drove my ford POS taursus more like a race car than the GN:(

i got 29 the other day. wastegate arm disconnected because of the snow. mostly highway miles, driving at 50 mph.

usually i get mid 20's highway and around 10 in town. i could do a lot better but its too much fun to step on it

Best Ive gotten to date is 28mpg at 70mph with air on. I had a friend that said his Blue T-type averaged 33 on hwy. Ive heard that the TTAs can get 35 hwy. I remember once in an old car craft that in a street eliminator contest, a ttype supposedly got 45mpg! Something to do with the chip they burned for it I Think.

In my Dr Pepper car I get about 18 in town and 32 on the hiway. Don't ask how, I don't know but it's pretty much stock except for a K&N on the end of a homemade cold air kit, a 237 regulator, Joe Lubrant chip.

It was a thrasher, but on Thrasher's site they say that a car will get better gas mileage "BUT NOT 45, NO WAY, NO WHERE NEAR"
So I don't think that 45 was accurate. Thats better than 4 cylinder hondas.
Now someone answer my question above!!!:D

My first full tank I ran through the GN I got exactly 183 miles. Not too good, but the car spent a lot of time at WOT on that tank...the boost is just too addicting:D:D:D

I probably still have that old Car Craft edition with the 45 mpg Turbo Regal. It had some very fancy chip programming for it's day, and it was for some kind of contest they were running for the fastest car, best fuel economy and possibly some kind of handling autocross type testing. I'd have to dig it up.

45 mpg is possible if you lean the heck out of it, higher cruise timing, make sure the TC is locked up, draft behind other cars, and coast as much as possible. The owner (Heath Elmer?) admitted to doing this stuff in the article as I recall. Pretty sure he won the event.

4 to 5 gas tanks a year since I only put on 1k a year.
Just turned 22k not bad for a 86 GN
