I know this is a pretty common question-but-what are our cars worth on the market today? I know everything is worth something to someone, but what would you guys say is the average worth of our cars? My car has 47,000 miles on it, fully loaded average mods(blown headgaskets but I'll get them fixed eventually), car also needs tires and a new headliner. I was thinking of swapping it for a 91 T/A w/the dealer added SLP package. Guy put a 3.27 disc rear in it(9 bolt)new trans, just painted. Car has 168,000 miles on it but from the pics it looks good and I was told it runs great(of course). Do you guys think this would be a smart/decent swap? Or should I hold out? I would think the T/A would sell for anywhere between $4500-$7000.
What do you guys think? I'm just looking for opinions?
Thanks for any and all input.:D

I would think that TA is worth NO MORE than $2500. I certainly wouldn't swap your car even up for it.
Hard to tell with atleast some pics or seeing it in person.

How many miles are on your car and what is the over all condition of it?
Is it a GN or a turbo t / t-type? 86 87?

I would definitely keep the turbo buick over a 91 TA.

It has 47,000 original miles ovarall in good shape(except for the headgaskets which will get fixed--eventually)fully loaded-tops ,pwr seat etc. Mint interior, except for headliner. No body damage, no rust.
Here's a link to a pic online.
BTW--his T/A has an almost Spohn suspension.
Third Gen .org : F-Body : Chevrolet Camaro, IROC, Z28, Pontiac Firebird, Trans Am

If your car is an 86-87 GN it is easily worth $15k. There is no way that the F-body is even close in value. What does a 91 TA have as far as horsepower 185 horses? is it even over 200? The TA will continue to go down in value while the GN will continue to go up. Hell, I'll trade you a '98 or newer LS1 TA strait up for your GN, just give me a few days to go buy one for $6000.

I knew that the T/A wasn't worth the swap but I just had to hear it from someone else. I've been frustrated with my car for awhile now.
The T/A had about 245 horses back in the day--a little more with the SLP stuff on it.
dude--if I thought you were serious aboutan LS1 swap I'd definitely jump on it! lol:biggrin:
Thanks for the feedback!

A 91 T/A with those many miles can't be worth more than 3500-4000 MAX!

At first I thought I was doing a wise thing--swapping-- since I need to do my headgaskets. If I went through with it(swap)I guess I might as well just give it away.

Looks like you can get '91 350 GTA TAs all day long for between $4,000 and $6,000. A dealer SLP package isn't going to add much to it, and the performance will not be much better. Most of the SLP stuff is cosmetic with exhaust and intake. A true 91 SLP car had some serious mods to them. I think they retailed for close to $40k back in the day. '98 LS1 TAs can be had for $6000-$8000 without looking too hard.

Do a search on autotrader and on the buick boards for cars similar to yours. You'll see a major difference in price between your car and the TAs
