What's up with body shops in So Cal?

I don't get these guys. I bring my car in for an estimate at two different shops I was recommended by friends. They look my car over, write down all the info and tell me they will call me with an estimate. I've called them back and still no estimate. I guess it's their way of telling me they really don't want the job. I wish my business was so good that I could afford to just blow my customers off.

Now I know why very few people are willing to stick their necks out and recommend a shop. 99% of them SUCK!
