Will look into that as we buy from trim for A body bucket seats (1966-68 GTOs etc) and cut them down for companies its very similar to this....

Will send a piece to the company next week to see if they got anything similar....
....

That guy on ebay obviously had a large 'roll' or whatever of that trim. He has sold a bunch of 'em over a long period of time.... I saw it on ebay probably a year or more ago, and back then he was selling the piece for like $15... apparently he's realized that he has found a nice little 'niche' group of us TR customers, and the price has now risen to $40.00.. I'd be willing to be that one could make a fair profit on that roll of trim without gouging the buyers THAT bad.... find us some Dennis!!

If all else fails, I can cut a section of my eBay trim and take some pics and measurements, As it came an inch or two longer than needed. This is a last resort though......

No need I got an original one I can use for a sample and see if the source I buy this similar plastic chrome trim molding can supply it.

$40 a strip is a lot one thing to double your money its another take advantage....

Hey guys I have a question for you if I had a few of these made from aluminum would you want ti an exact copy or would you rather it fill the slot.
Mine is peeling bad and I was trying to decide what to do and was thinking of makeing one out of aluminum . The origanl chrome section is a little wider then 1/4 in but the slot in the dash is 1/2 in . I was thinking I woukd just have a 1/2 in one made that filled the whole slot or would the 1/4 in one closer to stock look better I may try it both way to see how eash one looks.

Looks like some thick chrome door edge guard to me............. Both my cars look okay so I havent had to mess with them........... yet........

This is really a simple item it has to be flexible as it is not a flat area that it sits in.
Give me a few days....I buy 1,000 feet of this one plastic chrome trim now for A body bucket seats...1966-1969 every A body used it with small end caps on the ends....this stuff is real close to this trim piece.....

The only bad thing about using trim off a roll is that the end next to the passenger door is tappered some at the end.

I just sent the other day an actual sample of the regal dash trim to the company that has been supplying us for 15 years with the trim I currently buy for another project to see if they can match it. Obviousily if they can I would get it in a huge roll and cut and angle trim to match the factory part. Again nothing positive yet but project is at that point.

When the parts business is your lively hood.....you are constantly looking for ideas....trying for that home run or at least a double....

Been lucky on a few items not necessarily Buick that have sold very well for 10-20 years....actually first part we ever made we still sell from 1978....only sell about 75 a year but it has remained constant every year.......grilles springs and horn center we made for the Buick do very well.....2 items we actually made superior to Buicks versions. Horn center is bullet so it will never crack and grille springs are painted so they don't rust day after you install them.

Thanx for the update. Looking forward to this...

The part really in the scheme of things is a simple part...just got to find the rite width....

Kind of like we did with the body side molding ones we sell are pretty much dead on to the factory style.

Hey Dennis,

I have a white-T w/ chrome pkg & landau option. Any suggestions for finding a close replacement for my original chrome/white body side moldings?

I know the molding you need was only lucky enough to get the solid black one for the GNs etc which is like 98% dead on to a match in pattern and design....color ones I have no idea...as I have looekd at a chart a company has for modlings but they have nothing like that...not a great design as it would peal the coating or clear or whatever it was orignally...I took mine off my white T looks better...

My opinion anyhow..my car is 100% original paint.

If I could't find a close match I was just planning to remove them also.
I'll store them for future reference (for comparison) in case something nice comes along. My white-T also has its original paint, except the hood.
Thanks for your opinion. -Tim

I have a friend making me one out of aluminum now so maybe when I see him again in 2 weeks Ill have an aluminum one in my car.

A few words of advice although yo may already know this....Carefully use a heat gun to warm area up prior to pulling the molding off... With 20 plus years of age 99% certain you will see a shadow of where the molding was once you have removed it...may be more evident on one side of the car versus the other depending on which got more sunlite.

On the plus side white is more forgiving won;t show as bad....

Once done and time passes the shadow becomes less noticeable...clay the car helps....

Just my ideas and what I did.
