I know this is not a turbo buick question (I own two of them) but I just bought a 90 pontiac sunbird turbo conv. but the waste gate accuator is shot,the rubber vaccum diaphram is leaking,does anybody know where I can get one ? The parts houses and GM want to sell me a whole turbo,saying it is part of the turbo,my turbo is fine,just needs a vaccum waste gate accuator,,,,,thanks,,Jack

As the owner of a cherry '90 Sunbird GT Turbo I can relate to your situation. The stock turbo is actually an old school Garrett T25 journal bearing turbo with a water cooled CHRA. Good for about 250hp.
You might try contacting Durabuilt in Bradley IL, as last time I checked for a replacement turbo for mine, they sold them. Not sure if they would have the actuator alone, but it's worth a shot.

If no luck there, then I would suggest you visit j-body.org - the jbody organization
and ask around.
Garrett offers a universal wastegate actuator that could be made to work on the stock T25 turbo with some fabrication.
Check out ATPs site for all of their actuators that they carry. There is one that is listed for the GT28R turbo that might be modified to work.

FWIW, the GT28R turbo is a popular upgrade on the 2.0L Turbo with slight modifications being needed to the inlet of the compressor cover. I need to get mine back together and running again.
