I may have a bad rod bearing (from the sounds) or something up in the motor, and im in green bay wisconsin and not sure if i can trust the guys around here to rebuild this thing correctly, i was told its a girlded 3.8 .30 over with aftermarket rods and pistons, who might be semi close i can reley on to do this
thanks

It all depends on what you consider semi close, also how much you are willing to spend to have this done correctly. RPE in Hartford CT was my choice and I am close to St Louis.
DLS is in IN is is very capable as well.
Do yourself a favor and have it done right. Don't cut corners on a girdled motor.

what was it, and did you take it somewhere? i'm close by and am looking for a shop also.

My TR guy is in Bloomington, WI. He's had 7 of these cars since the 90s and raced them all, from girdled 109s to his current 2 TA motors and 2 stage II motors. He specializes in trans but can do it all. He's very honost and reliable. PM me if you want contact info.

unfortunately that is a little too far. it's over 3 hours away from me. i am hoping to find someone a little closer.

sorry guys, im still not sure what it is or was??? its not making that sound anymore though, so i dont think i need a rebuild but want someone to go over a few things and the tune

3 hours away for a guy who knows these cars is considered Close to many here. Lots are shipping far away for good work so 3 hours is Close IMO. Luckily my machine shop is 40 mins away but I do the rest myself.

If you are still looking for a place. I've found a local guy who has worked on Gn's before. Check out Zero to 60 garage in Sherwood. They specialize in working on high end cars (ferraris, porsche's, etc). I have talked to their owner/mechanic. His shop rate is $70/hour.

My car will be making the trip to their shop in spring.

the guy in bloomington that we4mateo recomended sounds really good, so far from him i would SO recommend him

Three hours is nothing. I drive nearly five hours and have made four trips just to look at the build in progress. No distance is to far for quality.

I have also used trannys plus in bloomington. He seems to know his stuff and he has some really nice stuff. My car will be going back in the spring for a little more stuff.
