Where to look for number match engine??

I want to know where to look to see if a engine is number matching to the chassis?
Try the search bar, but only found engine block casting number.

check the number on the back vertical pad just below the cylinder deck on the drivers side of the block....the last digits of the vin ought to match the last digits of that number stamped into that block.

I still have a valve cover sticker , but it does't match the vin.
But I wasn't able to look for the vin on the rear of the block. I,ll check it out later. :redface:

the number on the paper sticker on the valve cover will not match the vin------it was an ENGINE production number
