i am driving my car to cottons to pick up my turbo and i am putting in a non lockup convertor on sunday, i just put in a speed pro ecm and i need to lock the convertor for the drive up,which 2 pins to jump for the ride

just ground "D"

but in case not
A is power
D is ground.
They are stacked, both on left side. A is top, d is bottom

Are you guys talking about the ALDL ports or the tranny electrical connector pinout? :confused:
 
Connect the upper left terminal to the upper right terminal on the ALDL. That will ground the TCC solenoid.

I knew there was some confusion. ;)

Okay now that his problem is solved, I too made a switch and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Anyone know how much current that solenoid is supposed to draw when activated?

I think I have tranny/solenoid issues. :(

Perhaps that is why I've been getting 15mpg for all these years. :eek:
 
First, make sure that you are getting 12V at terminal A of your vehicle harness that plugs into the tranmsission. If you don't, track that problem down. The 12V passes throughthe brake pedal switch.

The TCC solenoid draws less than 1 amp. Using the two terminals that Bruce mentioned, measure the resistance of the solenoid coil. (It'll only check in one direction due to internal diode.)

A healty solenoid coil will measure 24 to 26 ohms. Notice I said healthy solenoid coil. That's because it's only half the story. The solenoid is an electro-mechanical device. It can malfuntion mechanically as well, rendering it useless. For that check, it needs to be pulled out.

If it passes the electrical check, blow air into the end of it and activate it. A good solenoid will block the flow of air through it when energized.

If you happen to know that your solenoid is the 15-year old original, simply replace it regardless. It'll fail before long.
