Which gate?

Been doing a lot of searches on an external wastegate and I understand how they work and how I have to set it up. The biggest question is which one to get. I've seen OBX and EMUSA as well as TiAL and I'm trying to get the best for the money I have. I've seen everyones claims but I still haven't decided yet so lets here what the rest of you have to say and please explain your reasoning.

Because for the same valve size, the Turbosmart outflows the competition.

There really isnt a lot more to say. Theyre both quality gates but the Turbosmart has more valve lift. For 95% of TR owners, a Turbosmart 50 will be the last gate they ever have to buy. For the other 5%, the Turbosmart 60 will fill into the same category.

I dont mean to high jack the thred, but do the TurboSmart gates run around the same price as the TiaLs???

What would you recommend for a 70mm DBB Turbo?

I have a Tial 44mm and so far has worked good, but the car really isnt running good enough to have put the gate to the test yet You could also take Jay's advice with the TS gate, I'm sure he knows what he's talking about when it comes to TR's.

Well im also running the same gate... it is a TiaL 44mm, i havent put it up to the test against the 70mm Turbo yet... but just curious about the TurboSmart gates, ive never heard about them before....

I havent heard much about the TS units myself. I've also never heard bad things about Tial's either.

Nothing is "wrong" with the Tial gates. They are great products... Our testing has just showed the TurboSmart to have a few advantages... Both products should be fine...

A TurboSmart 50 but if you already have a Tial 44, that will work fine for your application.

Do they make a 38mm? I doubt I'll need a 50mm since I'm using an almost stock turbo. Just trying to make sure I don't over boost or have any issues when I get the motor together and in. Turbosmart seems like the clear winner so far.

I have a Tial V60, I know a few people that are using the TS boost controllers but I mostly run into people that use the Tial gate out of the two. I'm not a mechanic or a builder just giving you my 2 cents on the matter.

They make a 38mm gate. Im not sure what the price is. Ive never sold one.

Kinda funny.. Know who the guy was that brought Tials to the Buick world? Me. I was a direct dealer for Tial back when they were nobody. I sold quite a few of the gates to Buick guys back in the mid 90s and showed one to Harry at PTE at a show and next thing you know, theyre selling them.

I never said there was anything wrong with Tial gates. They're great pieces. The TurboSmart is just better. One day there will be something in the same price range that's better than the TurboSmart. Thats the natural evolution of things.

Deltagate->RaceGate->Richard Lee->Tial->TurboSmart
