probably as big as you want if the torque converter and injectors wil handle it. i'm leaning towards the te-61, but i'm also goint to port the stock heads so i might go bigger, probably just an .85 ex. wheel.

heads should just make everythign work together better but i dont' there necessarly limiting you too much. get the turbo you want, give it time and i'm sure you'll do the heads. fast enough is never fast enough.

what are your goals with the car? How fast do you want your turbo to spool. TA-49 spools quick. Do you mind a little lag?

Some guys run TE-45a's on stock heads.... others go smaller. You need injector/intercooler/downpipe upgrades to support it remember.

Mine seems to be running well with a PT51 and a Orange Crush 3000 stall. I agree, depends on IC and injectors, and well, the converter.

i have a stock motor except valve springs on a 38k motor.
i run a cpt60 w/a 4" inlet from cotton.i use a 91/2 3000 art carr
converter. i just started playing with this combo in the fall and the car has abest time of 11.92 at 114. i need to find some traction.
1.8 60's! i drive almost 2hours to the local track so the combo is plenty streetable.

I've been playing around and testing some different turbos that are around 600-650cfm, the next step above the TE44/TA49/GT32, with a 2700 stall convertor, so far, a TE61 is my favorite. Spools nicely, not as fast as stock but pretty darn close, just takes a little more throttle at take off. Can build 10-12# on the foot brake just as the track light turns green. Ideally, a 3000 stall convertor would work great for both track spoolup and street drivability. The 61 has a 31E exhaust wheel and .63AR housing. Tried the same combo with a TE60. I ran a best of 7.26 @ 96 with a 1.66 60' with the TE61 and a best of 7.50 @94 with the TE60 and a 1.71 60' with just a little bit leaner tune, same timing and boost.
I think the 61 has a better top end pull according to the track #s and the spool up is identical to the 60. I've also tried a GT35 with .83 and .63 exhaust housing but did not spool well with the 2700 stall.

well right now ihave the bigger down pipe 2.5 exh ,stock convertor, stock inj ,stock inter cool er, so i guess i need to further up grade the injectors my goal is eleven ohhs

you must first decide how fast you want to go and what trade off you are willing to live with. once you decide how fast any vender on this site can put a combo together for you. you do not need to get everything together at once, start with your exhaust system then your fuel setup [ inj, fuel-pump ,regulator, etc ]. get a scan tool and some gauges[boost, watertemp, oil pressure].
when you go to a bigger turbo most people put a converter in and a bigger intercooler at the same time.it is not as easy to go fast as some would lead you to believe. it either takes alot of time to get your combo running or alot of money to get someone else to get your setup right.
can you do some of the work yourself?
can you tune the car yourself?
remember the faster you go the more you must know unless you have the cash! !!!
if you have any questions just ask and i will help if i can,i am going thru the same thing now and wish i would have thought out my purchases a little better! REMEMBER you are always going to want to go faster!!!!!!
