I am in the process of installing mine and having 3 issues.

1-) the DP sits against my inner fender well
2-) The dp also sits against my a/c heater box (under obv)
3-) DP is right against my Floorboard

I have h&R poly motor mounts and I installed them as high as possible at the time of install. I wonder if I loosen them up that I can gain some room. I do not want to touch my floor board with a mallet. I dont mind bending in the seam. How did your install go?? Any tricks??

thanks!

and no I am not removing my inner fender well! :)

Talking to Jason(RJC) about the install. I was told that I had to massage my floorboard to clear the DP, which I did. I also trimmed off a little of the heater box lower portion. To not mess up my inner fender, I covered the fender with heat shield, but the DP has melted a small part of my inner fender from the heat.

I like the DP and it gets tons of questions and attention, but I am looking at changing it out for an ext. gate. I have it posted in the Parts for Sale thread trying to get am ext. gate DP to trade.

How many actually need a 5" down-pipe? There just isn't that much room for something that size. I'd be willing to bet that a 3" down-pipe would serve you just as well & not have as many fitment issues.

I doubt many need it, I dont need half the stuff I have..... I like the way it looks. but with all the fit issue's Ive read. no way I get one now.

I just installed mine...VERY tight fit, I DON'T have a clearence issue with A\C box. Does touch fender liner. Used thin heat resistant insulation.Did have to dent the floor in a lot just to get the pipe in, then went from inside the car and pushed the floor back out....;)

i think based on the VE of these motors anything over 3" is just isnt necessary? but from what ive seen its not 5 inch DP its a 5" elbow and 4 inch downpipe to exhaust... is there really a gain on so much look at the exh housing f the turbo.. if your not running over 30 to 40# i dont think you need so much DP it looks cool but i dont see the benefits unless running stage or bigger cubes..but im not a record setter nor a tech advisor im just a regular dude im sure the mods will chime in and prob tell me im wrong... but i am a rjc supporter so im not bashing at all

He wants to cook pizza on it. [New, cook it on the way to deliver..] Needs the added surface area.....:D:p

Eight week wait? Are 3" pipes on back order or something? That's to long to wait. I went & looked at the 5" DP web-site. I have to admit that it looks bitchin'.

Maybe you could advertise for a trade.

Good luck

Because he is the only one that makes a th style dp that fits a GTQ housing properly. :(

well, I guess I am going to massage the DP to make it fit instead of massaging my car. Only thing is once I start I own the dp.

What all do you have to do to it? Just some ball-peen hammer luvin, or cut & section?

Probably better to dent the pipe than the car.

Good luck
