who in ny/nj/pa good at changing exhaust housings?

Who can change out a exhaust housing on a T-70-it seems to be stuck, in the ny, nj or pa area.

Must be a Q trim!, anyhow PTE told me to hold the compressor housing and hit the exhaust housing with a hammer and it will come off.
I never tried it but sounds like a 2 person operation to me!

Ya, its a GTQ! I tried and its gone nowhere yet!! It spins freely, just wont seperate! Maybe ill just send it to precision!

same here-afraid of breaking the turbine wheel. maybe i ll try alittle heat on it while doing the hammer thing.

I called precision on a rebuild cost cuz its going on a new engine, I figure ill just let them worry about it:biggrin:

I've got them off

When a brass hammer won't do it--I use a press. Support the housing and press on the end of shaft. How do you think the shops get them off?

Thats a good question, but im not about to risk bending the shaft to find out! They can do it!

How easy they come off, or at least mine did.
All I was doing with the brass hammer was putting dents in the exhaust housing.

Send the turbo back to the manufacturer. I had a siezed housing at one time. If the manufacturer breaks it, it's on them.

Billy- it s loose and turns no problem but just doesnt want to seperate-im going to try to heat up the housing at work this weekend and tap it with a hammer,its a rebuilt from john craig with 0 miles on it but its been sitting in my garage for about a year-i ll let you know how i did on monday-thanks for all the input.

Reputable vendors will usually hook you up ....but you gotta ask BEFORE you break it
