I guess I should of asked this question before ordering my wife one for mothers day haha.

Do you guys like the sound quality?

TIA

Ty

Ahh, fun topic :) The thing about the Bose, it does have extended freq response down low, due to incorporating a folded horn. And maybe/probably some electronic eq. "Dr" A.B. (lol) would like us to believe that they invented folded horn magic (lol) but of course reality is different ;) That said, if all there was to it was freq response (which is the popular conception) then it's an easy open and shut case. However, the truth is that freq response is not all there is to it at all. Unfortunately (if you care about music)you can probably count on one hand the number of mfgrs that actually "get it" and practice it, as opposed to just doing whatever it takes to rake in bux. IME the best sounding "boom box"/portable ever made (that I have heard) (for real enjoyment over long time) is/was the Panasonic bi-amp'ed series. I use one in the garage- the sound is superior overall, considering it's a boom box/portable of course. Far from perfect (lol). BTW this one was from about 1988 though; not sure what all junk the mfgr's put out lately. Sometimes the robot mfgrs get a few things right and it makes a product that rises above. But then 6 mo later it is "obsolete", have to make way for the new, improved sound that never happens in reality. What a fine treadmill they have the consumer on. Experts at that aspect of marketing for sure...

Anyway, this once again reinforces the fact that how carefully you retrieve and handle the signal up front is the most important aspect of how musical it will all ultimately sound, no matter what downstream gimmickery you employ. I know, this is counter to conventional wisdom, but oh well- truth is truth. The situation is very analogous to a picture; if it's taken with the best quality and highest resolution up front, it will look great. If it is not, then no matter what you do to it downstream afterwards, it will never look as good as it could have...

At home I have and enjoy (greatly-since about 1985 ;) a Linn Sondek LP12/Naim 140/Linn Kann system. It doesn't get much better :)

I don't have one, but have heard many of them. The sound is pretty amazing.

First time I heard one was about 1990 at a boat show in Ft. Lauderdale. It was a display booth. I was walking along, minding my own business and thought I heard a symphony right beside me. I look over and the sound is coming from this cheap looking plastic boom-box. This was outside too. You'll be surprised by the sound that comes out of this thing.

How much was it. In the ads they never give the price, so I know they are expensive.

for the new model

it was 499.00 or they will bill your credit card like 40.00 a month free interest.

I have the Bose Acoustic Wave, which is the double-stacker looking one. It doesn't sound as good as a full-blown 4ft. speaker system, but it comes close. I have it in a 22 x 26 ft room with a 12 ft ceiling, and it literally fills the room up with sound. It cost $1000. It is a bit pricey, but it is compact. Worth it, in my opinion.

very nice setup......
I even went as far a the bose 901 those gems will power an entire warehouse/hanger whatever as long as you have the power
power of bose very very nice even the small packages

yeah a little pricey and have you noticed that Bose does not sell those in any other audio store Tweeter, radio Shack ect. ? I asked this question and was told by a Bose rep that Bose wants to keep control of their sales..............ok I have the first generation cd model and hasn't skipped a beat. Sound is remarkable. You won't be dissapointed. Come to think of it, these have benn sold by Bose for quite a while haven't they?

Get down with the smooth talking Ty. ;)

I was leaving a local restaurant while a radio station was setting up for a remote. I heard this great sound and looked down and it was a Bose radio tuned to their station. I couldn't believe it sounded that good outdoors.

I have an acoustic wave, and, a wave radio. Both sound great! The wave radio sounds as good as the acoustic wave, at a much lower price :)

The horn speaker has more to do with the sound than you realize. We use the same 'horn' concept to manipulate the sound after the miniature transducer (speaker) in modern hearing aids.
