ok well i am not calling anyone out or inquiring to race anybody... just have a few questions...

i have a few people i know that say they race for money but they have slow cars... i was just wondering if anyone on here has ever really raced for money...
if so... are the cars being raced good 9 second cars or 10s or what? race just a 1/4 mile or more than that

a buddy i know around here says he cleans everyone up with a LT1 camaro that might run low 11s on a good day... claims to make about 2000$ some nights....

well just wondering what everyone has to say on this!

i am not wanting to start racing for money so no need to tell me... i am just curious as always!

Occasionally I will race for money. Not very often, and not when I think I'm being hustled. Around where I'm from, theres not a lot of "car guys", so when I meet someone new, we usually become friends and therefor I would feel bad taking their money. But, every once in a while, a newbie will roll into town with a "fast" car and start talkin' smack. My friends will call me and most of the time I try to set up a money race, but either the guy chickens out or one of my freinds beats him first and someone tells him I'm even faster. Sometimes winning by intimidation is more fun!

I often go to Street Car Chaos at US41 dragway, and I've noticed most of the bigger money races are between slow cars, and a lot of smaller money races are between faster cars. I found this weird.

At the few street races I attend each year, and from what I've seen, dollar amounts seem to be based how good a BS'er the guy is, not how fast either car is. I think most street race guys are probably in the 11-13 second bracket, due to the fact most need to drive their cars out because trailers just scream "race car".

I have run my C5 quite a bit on the street. Before the headers I put on 4 months ago, the stock exhaust on the car served as an open invitation for everyone with a 12-13 second car to challenge me. They had no clue about my gear/tc setup or tuning and the car is very quiet so I made a lot of $$ with it. A friend of mine races his 10-sec heads/cam c5 for money as well. Money racing, I've seen a pair of 17-second imports battle it out and a pair of 9-second animals go at it. If you choose your battles carefully and don't run your mouth, you can make some cash. I'm getting ready to install a hidden 100 shot in the C5 and go after some bigger game.

if your going to take the risk of racng on the streets, then its worth the risk of racing for money. if anyone tryed to set up a race with me i'll only do it for money, unless i know i'll loose. the ricier or louder the car, the more money i go for,

ahh very informative...

do most of ya race on main roads... side streets out in the country or what?

most places i see are very populated but we sometimes go about 10 miles north to farm country and have some fun... usually just get like 5 pretty quick cars and go entertain ourselves!
