I know kirban does for $729.00 complete, anyone else selling a complete new unit??

$729!? whew! Are we sure they are NEW? Hank's pal purchased the tooling some time ago. Anyway, Only NEW way to go that I know of is to get with Hank T but that wont be COMPLETE.
Personally if wanting a complete unit I would still go to AutoZone. Some had trouble but none of us have trouble locally and the local O'Reilly's stocks a unit on the shelf!

For $729 I'll go vac first lol

Shawn

autozone, they are rebuilt units complete for under $200. They have the angled resevoir because they came out of Caprice station wagons. Lifetime warranty. I have had mine on for 2 years with no problems, took 15 minutes to install.

I got mine from NAPA Looks exactly like the GM one. :) With a Lifetime warranty.:D Part# NUP 390047 Very pricey $1550.14 List  Good thing my cousin works there. Got it much cheaper:D

why not go to vac unit instead,I had replaced three power masters from GM in three years.Since I went to the vac unit Ive had no problems and thats been 6 years now,I think I spent 400 for it but the kit uses off the shelf parts. With a few parts numbers you could do yourself fo under 200 Id bet......

Sorry that this is slightly off topic, but a new accumulator now costs ~$150 from GM, new pressure switch is about that also.

So how long will they be selling these $200, and how good quality are these "lifetime" PM's?

I've asked that same question many times Nick. Very few get it. I'm not even going to get started.

I sell NEW GM PowerMaster motor/pump units. We have been down for 3 months waiting on a single component from GM to be finished. Parts are finally trickling in and I have a few units ready to ship. I am fulfilling my waiting list of around 25 and will post on my web site when back into full production. The cost is $129.95. Check out my site for more info.

Hank

You would have a winner if it were complete... the difficulty in talking folks out of buying an A1 unit is so many have had success with them. The internet is NOT an accurate guage of success or failure - just look at all the vendor gripe sessions.

Getting a new pump has little to do with the accum ;) That said, if someone doesnt like ANY of the options then they shouldnt be driving harharhar... vac, PM, or manual - anything you prefer can work.

AFAIK, Kirban or anyone else will not have NEW ones. I reserve the right to be wrong.

Man, I am so glad I got one last fall when they were $65. Thanks for the info, Nick.

Doesn't matter how long they keep selling them t that price if ou already have a lifetime one at that price. I see ack Cotton sells rebuilt replacements, and rarely see one come back. They are either bad from the start or they seem to last. If mine ever goes, i'll just bring it back for a complete bolt in. What is your warranty, and price????

Your still out there Shawn! The only time we chat is when this topic raises its head.

The last time I checked, GMparts.com sold the accumulator for around $50. Jeff at Cars Inc. had switches for around $125. A MC rebuild kit is $34 from GM. With a $130 pump/motor from yours truly, that totals under $400 including shipping and a little labor. That is a new unit and not a used one from AZ or anyone else that is telling you it is rebuilt.

I would rather see vac conversions than folks buying the used units from AZ or where ever.

One last comment. We have the ONLY test and assembly equipment available to build and test the motor/pump units straight from GM.

Thats it from me. Good luck with the $200 units.

Heh, LOL yeah Im around some. I do try to remain balanced on this issue but yet counter some stuff that comes up. Context comes out wrong tho sometimes.

Good Points! Put these together assembled and they will SELL. Trust me. I would rather have it that way and if Im lucky enough for you to be selling pumps when mine goes you will hear from me regardless. For those uncomfortable pcing one together you could provide a great service by doing this for them.

Valid. Something to be said for not really being a "rebuilt" unit. I try to always drop your name when this comes up.

You the man! Thanks for your time on the issue - someone is sure to benefit. You too Nick.

This is MY last post in this thread LOL

I and many others have been having good luck with the for years, but thanks for the good thoughts:) If they aren't rebuilding them ,then what are they doing with the cores?? How about guys that rebuild them theirselves?? What is the failure rate of the $200 units??? You put a statement out there basically hinting that the $200 units are inferior, and then you say its your last post??

I never said your units were not worth the price, because i admittedly did not even know your price. $400 for a complete new unit is a good price, but I would still much rather buy a rebuilt unit with a lifetime warranty. Mine has gone 2 years with no problems, and if it has a problem, i'll take the receipt out of the glove box and go geta new one. I have not heard of anyone having to do this, and until i see an inherent problem, IMHO this would be the way to go. From what i have seen, if it is a bad one, it will be bad as soon as you put it on.

I know there are people on the board with rebuilt units, and i think the should post their experiences, good or bad, on their rebuilt units.

May want to check again on that price Hank? The one I got from our local dealer on 3-12-02 was list at $208.74 and my cost of $146.12!

Since my race car develops no vacuum to speak of, thought one of the PM's from my "graveyard" would be fine. After trying 3 of them with no luck, manual brakes are looking good. For $146 I can easily do w/o the undependable PM.

For my last word on this thread, it is not IF the PM is going to fail, it is WHEN is it going to fail. Rather it NOT be when approaching 130 mph!

Hey Nick...

Here's an idea for ya if you still have power steering on your car...How about retro-fitting the Hydro-Boost setup for the brakes???

Which part of the PM is failing?

I have a brake light and a pedal which can be pushed all the way to thge floor. I rebuilt the PM's master cylinder using the GM kit. When I saw the good condition of my cylinder's internals I new I had wasted my time. I reinstalled , bench bled , and stilll have a bad pedal , the brakes are fine at stopping though. I hope its in the old style iron combo valve. Any ideas? And just what is it that fails most often iin the PM , the Mster cyl or the motor or the hydraulics in the pump?

I still have PM (power Monster's ) on all our cars here....ya we have had a few prob here an there BUTthey were still fairly easy to fix.... I have used Hanks "pumps" with no problems :) ....now for the "lifetime" units.... ya ya ya ya ...do you believe in the easter bunny to??? AZ's units wellll suck IMO :)...they are cleaned up old units...POS as far as I am concerned...we have installed many rebuilts...we DONT anymore!!! I allready have one wife an dont want to be "married" to someone elses brake system...

I have installed four from Autozone, so far no failuers . For 179.99 or so with life time warranty, you can't go wrong and it is complete.
