Just swapped ign. moduals again, looked at pins and clips in harness, looked real good at everything! I see nothing wrong. I took off the cam sensor cap, everything looked intact, and snug.

I did not change my program, and have double checked just about everything I can think of with the lap top.

I watched the RPMs to look for a dropout of signal, Looked at voltage, looked at pretty girls and dogs walking by.

Thinking of selling GN. I still have a brand new ATI racing 400 in the crate top of the line, new converter, just installed Moser spool and 33spline, all sorts of stuff, for nay.

Make an offer while Im pissed off. GN has around 23,000 original miles, original paint, except pass door, where I scuffed my trailer pulling out (nOoB) FAST, GN1 race ported by Tom with two passes on them. Also T70 with two, maybe three passes.

Well, it's dark outside, and another weekend went by.......

I got to leave my GN in the parking lot AGAIN. (drops head, turns off light)

Maybe next week?

I guess that means I'm done getting any help, huh.

(Grabs can of gas and a lighter)

Try this!

I had the same problem last weekend with mine. I ohm'd and tested the coil pack and ign module and they checked out ok.

My problem was going down the track and at 4800 rpm it would pop and miss. The burnout and being on the trans brake above 4800 rpm was fine. I checked the crank sensor and didnt see any problem but replaced it and clearanced it .005 each side and I was able to get several clean passes in with no problem.

I guess with the motor being under full load going down the track is going to act differently from a burnout and being on the trans brake.

While the car is running unplug the cam sensor and see if condition goes away. Most cam sensors have a self destruct built in for the spring of 2007.
Don't ask why but mine and a buddies went out this past week giving same condition. An intermitant problem will not set a code. The sensor has to completley drop out for few seconds before code will set.............;)

Thanks for the ideas,

however, on ther FAST log, you'd see something funny going on with the
RPMs when you loose the crank sensor, but I'll try anything now.

I doubt my cam sensor is bad, the car will start just fine with the old ign. modual..

Also I HAVE A FAST SYSTEM....NO CODES!

Its worth a shot, My buddie has the fast system too and it worked for him. His car would idle fine too but right at a certian point, spit ,sputter, miss.
Hope this helps. :)

I just noticed you said crank sensor, I"m talking cam sensor. Not too familure with the FAST software. Not sure if you would see it or not.

Were your RPM's eradic? Mine would log some weird RPM's when it would miss and would log RPM's of 200 to 12,000. After replacing the crank sensor, the problem went away.

I wish mine was that easy. I keep looking at the RPMs in the FAST dashboard. Looks normal.

Its got to be one of the three. MAP sensor, cam sensor or crank trigger. Did you try unpluging the cam sensor while its running?

Well, I'm watching the MAP sensor on the fast screen, it's fine.

Cam sensor was set at Cottons, and I removed the cap, window is intact and everything is tight. Cam sensor has a little over 20,000 miles.

I will get out a microscope and look again at the crank sensor, but I've never seen RPMs jump all over the place, or the signal just drop-out.. They seem to be accurate in the data I'm looking at.

My ign. modual did not pass the high RPM test. It failed pretty quickly.
My car got worse and worse, and I think it was due to not having a sparkplug wire attached for ?? miles, and the ign. modual is now toast.

I bought two new ones from NAPA, and my car won't even start with them!!

Re-install original ign. modual......car fires right up, but won't rev past 2200RPM.

I guess NAPA has F'd up the part numbers of the modual, or I get the lucky two in a row that are tehsuck.

Any other ideas??

I am getting close.

I have found one bad part....ignition modual. Two replacements will not start car.

I found another thread just like this one, but the dude never posted if he got it fixed or not??

O belive me I know about modules and coil-packs. Thats why I have a Caspers spark simulator, its my buddies but he is letting me hold on to it. Just give my idea a shot. While the car is running unplug the cam sensor and see if it makes any difference. Another member (Brair Rabbit) just had the same problem with a FAST set up. He unpluged the sensor and fixed the problem.

Good Luck ! ;)

there's a hole in the bucket, der liza.

Well, I can't get my car to start with a good modual to test your theory.

I can get it to start with my original modual, but it is fried, and failed the test on the ignition testing machine.

I will go out and try what I can, and find another modual. Just have to find my reciept to return this 2nd POS I have bought.

Thanks for your help!

(I love electronic problems, um huh. )

This is it......If you are running FAST, you MUST have the AC Delco ign. modual. The others will never run on a fast system no matter what you do.

Something is different in the electronics, even though they may test good.

Took me twenty hours and $$$ to figure that out.
