Buick put a gauge package in the GN's? I would think a performance car would come standard with a gauge package. Just thinking.

Well it was the 80s ya know

They were to busy trying to figure out how to make a dash light stop the alternator from charging.

Good question. GM hasn't always put gauge packages on high hp cars.

Why do some automatic trans cars come with tachs and not all manuals do?

How comes GM put a phenomenal LS1 engine in the 1998-02 F body yet use a weak rear end designed for V6's?

Simply put my 2 cents....because that's what happens when boneheads are allowed to run a dog and pony show.

the company that made the gauges was too busy making gauge packages for 307 powered Cutlasses and the Monte Carlo SS.

actually, i think they didn't bother with the gauges to try to keep the cars as clean and uncluttered as possible.. it was, after all, a Buick..

I think the person that was put in charge of the dash design / gauge cluster was to busy trying to find the door to the building and he missed the meeting so it got left out. ;)

Why? turbo cars were not a performance car it was an under the radar Regal sleeper.

GM DID put full gauge clusters in ALL of their performance cars. The Turbo Regal just has a V6, and is in NO WAY a performance car! I mean, REALLY.......... why would you even NEED to know what that puny little anemic V6 is doing? Geeze, you GN guys all think your cars are soooo fast. Blah, blah blah. The 4bbl 305 is a REAL performance engine. That V8 makes torque...... THAT my friends is what moves a car and needs to be monitored. V6's are for girls. (right Grumpy?)

Cause the actual idle oil psi is different than most. That would flood the dealer with complaints for no real reason. They gave you a tach and boost gauge. A temp gauge is not really a good idea because in the heat with the a/c on the car can run 210/220 in a stock car with a stock thermostat and chip in traffic. I like the plain Jane look. Shocks people when the boost hits.
