ok why wont my cam come out of the block . you can turn it but it wont pull out. someone help me

There is a groove on the front cam journal...When the front cam bearing starts to wear, it mushrooms and builds up into the groove on the cam journal, keeping the cam from coming out...As Boost231 asked, why are you pulling the cam??? The stock cam is good into the 10s...There shouldn't be any reason to change the cam unless the lobes are wiped...The aftermarket cams are a crap shoot to get them to last without wiping a lobe...If your stock cam is good, leave it alone...These motors don't really need anything done internally to make them go fast...The only reason to go inside these motors is because of a catastrophic failure(rod knock, wiped cam lobe, etc)...Otherwise, no need to even go any farther than unbolting the valve covers...

If you really must get the cam out, take a big flat blade screwdriver and stick it between the block and the cam gear flange and pry it out carefully...

just because they dont need this or that dont meen that they dont help.

Did the cam move forward any, if so how much?
If the cam came out a few inches then hits something, maybe a spun cam bearing ( bearing siezed to the journal )
IMO, there is some extra power to be gained with an after market cam, as long as it is matched correctly to your other parts

but i dont want to leave a cam in the that wont come out . plus sometime the cam wont turn at all . does anyone know how to get this cam out . i guess i will have to put some money in the block now

is the crank and rods still in it?

make sure the cams not stuck on the crank.

hopefully you did pull all the lifters all the way out

This is true,my Postons cam makes real good power,I wonder who really makes them? ChirisF from this board can verify this as he told me he thinks my car pulls better than his 86' GN.I don't believe him tho' The reason I changed mine is that I absolutely would not put a used cam and new Lifters in a motor I'm rebuilding,no effing way.

Looks like some new cam bearings for you.

Did you tell them about the chip in the bottom of the cyl yet. There is a chip the size of a penny on the very bottom of the cyl , it looks like it was like that when they made the block its next to the cam side. Will this still work or is it going to start to crack more and more.

Help this guy get the car running iam sick of seeing it in the drive way
