Okay i hope someone can help with this, my car at wide open throttle and about 20-22lbs of boost makes a popping or miss but once you come out of the pedal just a hair it clears out and continues running. im running razors alky and 60lb mototrons with a t-66 and a 340 pump and hot wire, I get 0 knock and my o2's are about 769 is my car leaning out at the higher rpm/boost or should i look at something else like a double pump setup or larger injectors etc. thanks mike at nailheadpoweredgs@sbcglobal.net

Welcome to my world. Do you get that loud "death pop"? I've been told it's an ignition problem. Check the coil pack and such to start. Still trying to figure mine out. Doesn't do it all the time so that makes it even more difficult. Keep us posted on what you find.

What plugs and gap are you running? It's possible you're blowing the spark out, assuming that the MAF and TPS readings are where they belong.

P.S. I'm working on the GS parts list for you, should have it ready this week

Mine did the same thing, ran fine, then just all of a sudden it would pop real loud thru the intake at around 20-21# of boost, any lower boost would do fine.
Its the ignition module or coil pack if the problem just started without changing anything else.
When the coil or ignition mod starts to get weak, the first place you notice that is at higher boost because the spark is weak and gets blown out by the added boost...thats why lowering the boost usually makes it stop until the coil/ign mod gets a little weaker, then it will return.
The ohm test does not always show a bad coil...mine didn't, they all ohmed around 12k. See if someone near you has a Caspers ign/coil tester, it usually will test bad with that if it is bad.
On mine the spark was fine till you got it around the 5k simulated rpms with the tester then it would start to misfire....mine was the coil and not the ign mod...new coil fixed it.

There are several other causes for this problem, like a bad ground strap, but I bet its the coil or ign mod.

popping/miss

thanks i will check them tomorrow as i just bought a type-2 setup about 3 weeks ago so i would be surprised if one of the coils was bad, but it happens, the good thing with this setup is if it is a coil i can just replace the one for about 40.00 instead of the whole thing. :( thanks mike.

popping/miss

I forgot to mention that i just made a couple of changes on my translator as the # 3 switch was on limited so i moved that to unlimited and i changed my grey knobs to 3.5" maf 10% rich at idle or the #1 slot and the second grey knob from 0 to #1 which is 2% rich at wot. i took it out and it ran a bit better but still feels like its falling at the top and my plugs are a/c delco's r42ts gapped at about 28. I will check my coil packs tomorrow as they are new from gm so will know if i have a dud coil or module. let me know what yall think thanks mike. ;) also what should i be looking at on the maf be at also my tps at idle is 44.
