I posted this in the gen. tech section, but someone suggested I may get better answers here. I am planning on getting a BOV for my car next week. I was wondering if the 100% denatured I run in my alky kit would hurt the BOV? Someone also wondered whether alky would get shot out into the engine compartment when the BOV lets off the pressure. Does anyone here have an alky kit and a BOV, and if so, does the alky affect the BOV in any way that would be harmful? Thanks.

I would have to guess that it would blow the Alky out the BOV which would be a very bad thing (flammable vapor in the engine compartment). I would recommend installing the BOV in the tube running from the turbo to your front mount.

I would imagine some alky would come out, so put the bov low on the up pipe so that it vents very far away from the intake and more towards the ground. Even on the turbo side its going to get some alky, even though the FMIC or stocker would catch some of it. And its closer to the downpipe over there so IF there were any worries, thats the worst place to go with it.

I am going to be dealing with the same issue soon. I might have a tube put on the inlet pipe and vent back into that.

I've seen a bazillion GN's with front mounts and no BOV's..

I see every Honda has them on tho..

I woulnt put a BOV anywhere near alcohol..when you close the throttle blade you have alcohol in the up-pipe..would be a shame to squirt it anywhere on your motor.

I've seen people try and re-vent air from a BOV back into the air tract. Maybe re-venting it with a one way valve will prevent alky from being sprayed on the engine, just back into the air tract where it belongs.

I just finished installing a turbo kit on my friends civic, he's using a snow performance kit. With a tial BOV we mounted it on the pipe right after the intercooler so it's down low in the bumper, as long as you do something like that I can't see it hurting anything.

I just don't want alky spilling out each time i let off. This stuff is almost $10 a gallon, and as most of you know, a gallon doesn't last a long time anyways.

I also own a Subaru WRX. At a WRX forum site i-club.com I saw a 02 WRX with the SMC alcohol and the car comes stock with a bov. Check out that site and do a search for it.

I use an HKS SSQV BOV and i have it mounted on the up pipe right before it curves down to the intercooler. It doesn't leak at all....or at least I haven't noticed :)
