will an 87 tranny work???

im thinking of putting my uncles spare 87 tranny in my car since my tranny wont shift right. Can i just swap them out, or will i have to make some modifications to get it to work?

Works just fine, I have an 87 BRF in my 84 T.

I know S**** about transmissions, but, I do know that the hot air has a 4 prong and the 87 a 3 prong connector at the transmission. I also read that there are no issues with a 3 prong tranny but not sure. Still can't understand any of it. Believe it is an OD thingy (??) Heck if I know ...........

One thing I do know ......... I am short $2300 for a good rebuild tranny...........

Should be a straight swap. The plugs should be the same. The only difference is some minor stuff in the valve body and the governor is slightly different, all internal.

I am not sure but if it is a three prong plug, I think it may be from a Monte Carlo, S10, or some other vehicle.

BQ gov. has a spring on the heavy weight where the brf has no spring. Both have the same blue spring on the small weight
BRF servo has a slightly larger apply area.
Both trans have the same black 4 prong plastic connector.
Difference in the VB is minor, if any.
To the majority of TR people, if it does not have BRF on the side, they have no interest in it.

No problems. The computer shows when it is in 3rd or 4th gear and the convertor clutch locks up when it is supposed to.

ok thanks guys...i was just wondering if it would bolt up correctly, it doesnt really matter if the internals are different or anything, since this tranny actually shifts.
