i'm betting that the pump connection in the tank is leaking. At low power/idle, the volume requirements are low, and sufficient fuel is delivered.
Stand on it, the demand goes up, the psi goes down, and the engine quits.
Shutting off, and restarting just puts the pump demand back at a low level....
Take the tank down, hanger out, and see what's going on.
Take the pump off, cut the necked down portion of the hanger tube off, install the hose and clamps. Discard the pulsator...
+1

I will drop the tank.:( I will probably go ahead and get a new pump and kit just to be safe. Racetronic seems to have a good kit. Got the last one from Gbody and that is not an experience that I wish to repeat.
The article with the photos really help to understand to modifications.
I really appreciate all the help. It's guys like you over the years that make owning these Buicks so enjoyable.

Does the pump have a different sound, humm, vibration, when the car is running good compaired to when it is running bad? Right after you restart the car climb under the back and slap the tank and listen for the pump to change tone. Both can usually signify a pump or sock issue.

FP relay is on the inner fender.
There is no way to put the pump on the hanger, use the pulsator and the hose /clamps..[Pulsator is between the pump outlet and the hanger line.
Check the FP relay bypass wiring at the oil psi block below the turbo...

Good thinking. My car did that when I took off from a stop and made a right hand turn. When I dropped the tank, the worm clamp wasn't on and the hose was about to fall off.

It doesn't seem to make a different sound. I will be dropping the tank next week (gotta recruit help) and hopefully solving the problem!

Problem solved

Just wanted to say thanks to those who posted suggestions and helped. It was indeed a bad pump. THE 3rd ONE that I have put in, all new. Two bad pumps in a row, both from the same vendor. I bought the last pump from Racetronics and it was a great kit. It had very good directions and all the necesarry supplies. Wish I would have bought that in the begining.

Thanks again!
