Looks like my trusty old Netgear took a hit, and is no longer working.
Am looking for a new unit that will pick up my laptop from the shop. [About 125']
may even want a feature that allows using it to stream a movie to the tv.

NE1 have some ideas??

TIA,:D

I read up on routers a couple of months back and one that was recommended was the Trendnet 812, so I bought it. Please do not follow in my footsteps for IMHO it's a turd. I have to unplug it several times a day to restart it. My old $50 Netgear didn't have that problem.

Thanks for the headsup!

My Linksys died a couple years ago (was having to constantly cycle power to reboot also). So I switched to Netgear and really like it!!

Keep in mind when looking for one, that no matter the brand there are several model choices depending on how my "horsepower" you want. Just get the best one that your budget will allow. No half stepping!

Who is your cellphone carrier? If you have T-Mobile they will give you one for free. Only catch is its $99 if you don't return it when you stop service. There are no added fees and they even paid for shipping. Tell them you want ability to do WiFi calling. The one thy sent was an Asus. My friend is a computer guy and said they're really good. I use it in my gfs house and I get ignal all over. Router is located in back and I get service in front in basement.

You could also run a line from your service point out. I run 2 routers at work..

Good to hear you get service in the front and the back.

I went with Asus as well. Rock solid. It was about $139.00.
You get what you pay for just like our cars
