Woodchipper accident in CT

Can't even imagine what this family is going thru right now. If you have ever worked a full size woodchipper you can figure out what happened. Would never have let a child anywhere near one of these machines. Had the utmost respect of these when I have used them.

So sad and it happens so fast .We all think this can never happen to us but don't kid yourself, we have all made mistakes that could have ended in a similar situation

Being in the outdoor power business I hear of this kinda stuff all the time. Seems that professionals are sometimes the first to relax around equipment and then accidents happen.

As a matter of fact, I'm of the exact mindset you are "I'd just like to think that wouldn't happen to me".

But just envision the grief, sorrow, guilt, and pain this guy must feel........Dang!

I'm divorced and I only have one child, don't get to see him enough as it is. I can't even begin to picture what I might do in a situation such as this.

So very, very sad.

With where it happened I'd almost bet the dad will be bought up on charges of some sort. I'm not being mean here because I can't imagine something like this and I'm sure the dad will have a nervous break or something.

Stories like these are why I stopped watching the news years ago.
They never report anything good, just terrible stories that give you that awful feeling in your gut.

True, and when they do try to report on anything good, they have so successfully jaded all of us so that we are sure there must be some sort of slimey catch to the real story.......

Your right, so sad and it happens very fast, can't imagine how the fathers doing after this tragedy. Having worked in the tree service business for years back I can tell you things happen very fast if your not paying attention all the time. Our Morbark chipper would take in 18" logs all day like nothing, either carried to it or winched into it. Never wear anything loose while working near the chipper, also the chipper does have a safety bar that will stop or reverse the feed wheels right before the shute. But once a branch catches you and knocks you off your balance and drags you it's probably too late.

The fact that the father owns a tree removal service is terrible from the standpoint of whenever that chipper is turned on, no doubt often, it'll be a reminder. I'd have to consider changing professions.

Thats what happens when you get too comfortable. That one in a billion chance bites you in the ass. If I had children I'd have a life insurance policy on them. Sounds a little f'd up but I dont think I'd be able to work again if my child died. Especially in an accident like this. With machinery you don't even

This is truly very sad. I think my heart stopped beating for a few seconds just reading and thinking about this horrible accident. I pray for this family and truly hope they find peace. Prayer sent.
