I am looking for the factory steel shim head gaskets for a 84-85 motor. I think they are about .017” thick (stock 86-87 are about .040” for comparison).

These are for our Grassroots Challenge car.

GM PN is 25524599.

Thanks

Still looking.

Given our $2,006 total budget for the grassroots challenge GN (see link in sig for details) we're after these for the lower compression, but mainly because of their low cost from the dealer. Have to save money on gaskets and nuts and bolts however we can.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks again,
Scott

The dealer hasnt had them for over a year from what i remember. You will need to run at least 2 per side to get the comp ratio down. With one of these, a 23cc dish, the pistons at zero deck, and 47cc combustion chamber you will have 8.6-8.7-1. 2 or 3 per side will be needed. Still cheaper to go with a cometic or copper gasket in case you have to do a tear down. Then you can run the thickness you want. Im suprised you would want to lower the compression.

Scott meant to say that we were after these gaskets for the HIGHER COMPRESSION. We (Scott GN231 and I) are intending to only run ONE gasket per side. So, we need a total of two gaskets.

Thanks,
-Banning.

Lets see, one gasket per side = 2 per engine, 2 engines = 4 gaskets needed
Well,I still have (4) GM steel shim head gaskets (part# 25524599)
