Needless to say the arm that was in the area has had a bad reaction reminds me of fiberglass

oh what a dummy, i'll know next time to stay away from it

not that i would be happy i have a rash here, but nice to know its only a reaction to some fiberglass or something

any info greatly appreciated lol

I've used the thermal wrap on headers, down pipes and crossover pipes ... always got a bit of itch goin also . I think there is a fibreglass/ceramic matrix in the wrap that causes rash.

I think there is a "package direction" (seldom ever looked at) that suggests you water soak the wrap before working with it ..... supposedly reduces loose/friable fibers.
On plus side ... the stuff works great at reducing underhood temps.

Yep, he's right about that! The stuff gives the same sensation as rolling around in a pile of pink attic insulation!
It does work better to soak it, before applying it, however once it's on the car, you've just got to avoid rubbing it on your raw skin. Otherwise, you get what you got...
It's just one of those lessons we all learn the hard way. I've had it on my downpipe for years, and still sometimes find myself forgetting about it when changing plugs on the passenger side. I do however, try to remember to place a towel over it, before working around it. It'll be red for a day or two, and itch a little, but you can wash it off and then just use some lotion or ointment to soothe it a bit. Good gosh, listen to me here,,, I'm sounding like someone's mother...;)

Not only will irritate your skin it will get in your nose and throat. I wet the wrap every time I use it but it still gets to me. If you can get by that, you have a good product that works well!
