Zero fuel pressure

87 T-type, been sitting better part of 10 years. Going through and getting up and running after chasing numerous vacuum issues. Got to a point where it was idling decent, throttle response nice, scanmaster numbers Ok, the. Kaput.

Engine won’t start to save its life. Little starter fluid, starts and dies immediately. Ok fuel problem. I can hear pump kicking on, both with key and test circuit. Thought maybe fuel regulator. Pull that and no fuel at all coming out of line. Let test link run for minutes, nothing. Yes gas in tank.

Clog in the line? During this process I installed new fuel pump and cleaned out tank. Did not replace tank to engine fuel line.

Thought? Kinda stumped.

Hose on the pump to the hanger has either split or come loose.

Let's hope not....hate to drop the tank again. Going to disconnect the fuel filter and see if I'm getting fuel there, hoping there is actually a clog in the line that I could possible blow out. But tank drop will be next. Thanks

When you put the new pump in, did you also change the exterior lines that connect to the hard lines?
If not, there may be a liner failure if the pressure side hose. The liner can fold with psi and block the fuel flow.
You DID change the filter when you changed the pump, right? If not, don't be a pussy, drop the tank while you are taking the filter out.

Ok, clogged fuel pump, sock fell off. Tried blowing air, guess I can try some gum out or something. Any other idea? Brand new pump, hate to have to buy another one. Not sure how the darn sock fell off, pretty pissed off at that.

Ok, unclogged. Now, generally I’m not a moron but considering the sock fell off once, anyone have a “tip” for getting it to stay on? The metal retainer was on pump, but sock fell off, so need to figure out how to keep sock attached to the retainer.

Tank was obviously dirty.
The sock should fit very tight to the intake of the pump. Sum ting wong.
IMO if the pump ingested enough crap to shut it down, it's junk.

I've ziptied em on in a pinch but if it fell off the metal retainer I would question that and the quality of that unit.

Sending unit unclogged....attached a needle used to fill footballs and such to air line, inserted in the top side of pump, blew it out in one second. As for the sock and retainer...yeah not the best fit on the metal clip, but reapplied it and seemed much more snug, maybe the first time I didn't press on completely, not sure. If it clogs again, I'll pull the tank, get a new tank (done with thinking I cleaned this one good enough) and then buy a new sock, but for now, spewing out full rate. Now Fuel Pressure Regulator O-ring needs replacing, that's been ordered and waiting at Napa for tomorrow's job. Hopefully that puts an end to this problem and on to many more, like body mount falling through frame rail...oh what joy.
