1/4 way down track miss and puff of black smoke ???

I was at the track yesterday and was chasing a problem . At launch I'm getting a puff of black smoke . And at 1/4 way down the track I was getting a miss along with a puff of black smoke . Plugs are AC 43 gapped at a very tight .035 , all grounds look good , running 22-23 psi boost .Coil and Module are good . I'm thinking these "new" Taylor 409 wires may be a problem . Thanks.

Try squeezing the gap down to .032.

What were your O2 numbers? Any idea what the EGT was? I have seen rich popping too and the black smoke might indicate that as well.

02's were good no egt guage . It was more of a miss then a pop .

Ohm the wires out , See if they are good.

Sounds like a bad wire.... They don't always test bad, when bad,, trust me on that one.

The car has been put away for the season . I'm also leaning towards a bad wire . Odd thing on a new set of Taylors with about 1000km on them . I guess I'll salp on a different set and see what happens . Thanks.

How did you check the coil and module?

Caspers tester?

I'd ohm the wires as planned and try to find a tester.

coil and module are brand new GM .

Just becasue there new doesn't mean there good.
