We've swapped messages on this website and read a lot of his posts, so I know he is a good guy.

I live in eastern kentucky. My dad taught me everything he knows as he has been drag racing since he was little but we have never messed around with any type of turbo car. We actually own 4 buicks right now the 86 grandnational,an 86 rolling parts car, a 84 t-type, and an 87 grandnational that is completely stripped at the moment that i am building from the ground up. I feel slightly offended when people infer that i am going to destroy my precious car but when i get my 87 built, im going to use it to drag race and use the 86 for my cruising/sleeper/show car.

If you're offended now, you'll surely be bent out of shape when you grenade your engine, Hot Rod.

You need to slow down a bit and do some listening...................or you can continue the path you are on and..... BOOM!

My money is on BOOM!

Then you and your Pops are always welcome to come back ask questions about how that stuff happened and how to avoid it in the future.

I hope it doesn't happen but you seem hell bent on ensuring it does.......

I don't have a scanmaster but I have a pillar pod boost, knock, and a wideband a/f ratio guages. What is the difference between narrowband and wideband a/f sensors?

I know. Its just hard trying to find sincere help being as young as i am. Most people tend to brush me off and try to explain things to my dad instead of helping me learn.

Im not trying to be hard on the car, i backed the boost down when i bought the car and it hasnt knocked a single time since on the gauge or on the powerlogger. I just dont know where to start from here.

What is the difference between narrowband and wideband a/f sensors?

The narrow band oxygen sensor people are referring to is the stock 02 sensor, just like you will find on 90% of the cars on the road today. It's function is to keep the car at stoichiometric (i.e. ~14.7 AFR) during normal driving. It can be used to tune the car but only in a crude manner. Tuning by the narrow band's 02 millivolts can give you a rough indication of how rich/lean you are running under boost. However, as the sensor heats up during WOT blasts, the sensor becomes less and less accurate. A wideband oxygen sensor will tell you what your actual air to fuel ratio (AFR) in real time. IMO, it's a must have in this day and age now that they are very affordable.

Ask here, if you're sincere, you'll get plenty of help and support.

P.S., I love how most of you don't even get the troll reference. Trollololol.

It will take time kid, believe me.;) Most of us have been redheaded step children at one point, but as Guy said, slow down or I'll be getting some extra cash out of the pool.:D I could the $ so maybe you could hurry it up and pop a top.:p

Many members have been here for years and know each other either in person or via the board so there's lots of inside jokes.
When the weather cooperates, lower the boost to 15 and log a drive on the street normal with out going into boost and then a short wot blast in third gear. Be careful of knock. Then post the log. You also should try raising the fuel pressure to 43. Don't add any other items until you figure out what's going on first. It will just complicate finding what's causing your loss of power.

Performance shop owners may be able to answer this for me. Would your shop liability allow you to do performance upgrades on a vehicle belonging to someone under 18 ?

..still having a hard time understanding why some of you are making such a big deal of his age?o_O I got my buick when I was 17.....still have it...still drive it....and still love it.;) To Corvettekiller, I hope you get your issues sorted soon. Sounds like you have a great car on your hands.

How far are you from Bowling Green? Lee Thompson lives there now and might be willing to diagnose your car. Not for free but probably be money well spent to establish a baseline.

my money is on .. baby on the way gotta sell ... come on guys he 's 16 with a GN . my youngest just turned 16 and for his birthday I gave him my 600 hp 79 hurst olds . good luck in your quest . p.s ... if you have a good summer job and want to keep her running.. get 2 summer jobs .

Oh and btw im going to run alky in the cooling mist injection kit. I said water earlier.

Do some research on this. The seals and diaphragm may break down over time...so you may want to ask tech support if alcohol will damage the pumps internal parts. I have a coolingmist pump in my t-bird and run -20 washer fluid...but somewhat remember a caution on running anything at full strength.

Here's a thread that might help, but in the end, I'd still ask the manufacturer of the pump. http://turbobuick.com/forums/threads/methanol-and-pump-facts.364265/
