Brian, since I installed H&R components, I've never really used the air bags at the track anymore...I still keep them just in case...because I want to use some tall tires (275-55-16) on 10" rims for the street this coming summer...
I think that the trick here for minimal rubbing (even if there can be a little) is to use a rim with a rear spacing of 3.5"...but that's only my opinion and experience as I know that whole rear axles are not always spaced evenly from side to side...and this spacing can and often does differ from one car to another ...
