This is precisely what he's saying. Especially with the hyd cammed low revving torque engines most v6 guys have. Spoolup and WOT coupling can't be achieved very easily with the current converter selection

i love my 400 but don't like it for interstate driving...i am wanting to get into a 4l80e..i won't mind losing the clutch in the converter..i am currently building hopefully a stroker 109(looking for a wide journal crank) on e85 that will have more compression..maybe i can get with Dusty when the motor is done and work something out with the converter for a 4l80e...........Bob

If your looking to get into a 80e and run low 10's you won't run into the same issue as someone looking for 1000hp+ trans. Actually a 200r should easily handle that sort of et range unless your drastically stepping up from the combo in your sig.

We're just spoiled with the performance numbers we see now with the converter tech. All I'm trying to point out for those interested in doing the 80e swap is this: If your wanting to run 8's with an od trans, don't expect the low slip numbers we've gotten accustomed to. Go into this knowing slip will be 12-18% depending on hp and shift rpm and all will be good

yes sir i will be stepping it up.109 block..3 billet caps, girdled,ported ta heads,etc,.at least bottom 9's i am hoping for.....thanks Bob
