17 row POLISHED intercooler

This is a Bob Sims 17 row stock location intercooler. It is notched to clear the front sway bar. 2 1/2" in and out. Comes with mounting brackets and the plastic shroud. I do not have the other shroud that extends to the front of the car. It is hand polished which took me alot longer than i expected to get that rough cast smooth. It was sitting in my basement and i threw a quick wipe down on it. Fresh polish would make it shine even better than in the pics. Pics do not do any justice. Intercooler is in perfect shape except for a few bent fins i have shown in the pictures. How would this compare to a FMIC?

Cottons or some other shop would be able to answer that question more thouroughly. The RJC front mount is good for 800HP. I think the 17 row is good for aobut 600. The PTE one on cottons site goes for $795.

Why are you getting rid of it?

My situation now is I have a FMIC and the car likes to overheat and I am sick of trying to come up with idea's and don't have the money right now for a radiator swap and all the oil coolers stuff, just don't want to do it.

I just put the front mount in, pulled the A/C and am doing the f-body radiator swap so i have no cooling problems. How much horse are you looking to make? The car has gone 10.8 in the 1/4 with this cooler.

With the bent fins, have you had it preasure tested ?

No i havn't but you can see right where the damage is and there is no damage to the cores.

How much horsepower will the intercooler support?

other 17 row intercoolers (not this particular brand) say they support up to 700-750 HP

Vodka is all gone haahah. It approximately TOO long to polish the tanks. Its a real rough cast and i had to use a cookie on the drill, the sand by hand with about 200 grit then 400 then 1000 then i went to red scotch brite then white then polish. And over the spots i missed in the same fasion. If i totaled the hours it would probably be about 30. It was no fun at all but it looks good now.
