Straight out of the "SRT Edge" a quarterly publication from Chrysler.
" Lower unsprung mass offers a better ride and the decoupling of LEFT and Right wheels over road imperfections maintains better tire contact with the ground and results in better ride comfort."
Sounds like posi to me.

That is just describing the independent rear suspension.

A live axle would "couple" the left and right wheels during suspension deflection, independent rear suspension decouples them.

I am sure it has traction control that brakes the side that is spinning, because chrysler has had this for years, now, but that would make the car slower and not faster.

If the '08 has a posi, this appears to be a case that the magazine was incorrect. I would still hold out for the manual and an MDS equipped motor, however.

They call it a "anti spin differential". Prolly not put together just like a 8.5" gm but they both grab.

Just hold off for a year and that same car with 10K miles could be had for $25K I'd bet..... Feel bad for the sap who gets suckered on this....

Ya know...these cars are hard to get. I really thought that someone here may appreciate the oppurtunity to own one. I don't get paid on the sale. I just posted this to try and help someone that may have been looking at having to pay more than that. It's amazing how many people just don't have anything better to do than be negative.

If you got enough money to pay $20k over sticker and you are a "sap" who is easily "suckered"....hats off to ya! Most easily suckered saps don't have enough sense to get into that financial position.

But this is a capitalistic society. 6 months ago a CAT crank was $299. TA is selling them for $750 today....if they have any left. It's easy though..if you think someone is ripping you off...don't do business with them. If you are willing to pay the price...then everybody is happy.

Hard to get now because they just came out... It's not like these vehicles are a limited run. People ran out and spent way over sticker for the Charger SRT8 when it was first out now you can buy them all day long for around $30K. People also said the 05' Mustang was "hard to get" when it was first out. Even if someone is in a financial position to pay that much money (most markup) just to get one a few months early is not making a smart decision. I know most people who even though they can afford it they are not going to pay $10K extra for something the same thing they can buy in a few months for much less.

If you can find me new Charger SRT8s for $30k, I'll pay you $1,000 profit each.

I know people who can afford to pay $10k extra and never miss a beat. I will meet a new one when this sells.

Broke folks like me find the mentality hard to understand. BUT...plenty of people don't care if its $10-20K because they spend that much on vacation to the Greek Isles...or whatever.

Somebody with REAL money...not check to check money...just doesn't care about spending money. They care about getting what they want.

I didn't say new off the floor but new as in 07' / 08' with around 10K miles is still very new in most peoples books. Cars For Sale: Car Details - AutoTrader.com
I don't care what people waste there own money on it's up to them. I just don't agree with it or use that logic. Just my $.02.... On a side note I do like the car its a great looking vehicle just to much for my blood at this time.

yup... hit the nail on the head.. look at the Shelby GT 500 Mustangs and the new Z06's .. still getting good $$$ for them.. who cares .. I like em all BUT my attention span isn't long enuff to warrant a new car like that :p

some (like me) would say the same thing restoring an 84 hot air car :p like the expression goes "whatever floats your boat"

Yeah but with that $10K markup I can restore two hot airs back to life  I go buy quantity NOT quality so I'm told

Look into the future my friends. Nothing but bad news coming out of Detriot. Look at Dodge for example. The Challenger is the only new car they've got coming out in the next 2 or 3 years? Well maybe 2 if you count the Chinese built Hornet. But still that should tell you something especially when all the traders are saying Cererbus is planning for a massive sell out and there is no buyer lined up to take over. Either the jerks who are paying over sticker are truely first class retards or they see 6 digit instant collector cars in the future. I guess we'll have to wait another year before we start laughing or crying.

The mark ups on Challengers are all chump change compared to my next story. Last month we got in one of the special edition 427 Corvettes with the special candy red paint. Chevy is only making 427 of them. Anyway I was up on the showroom gawking at ours and the sales manager was telling me we are getting one or two of the ZR1s next year. Now that aint the kicker. He than says one guy has a $100,000 deposit in escroll on the first one. Now we are most likely marking it up another $100K so quite possibly this guy could be buying a ZR1 for anywhere between $250-$400K. I never thought I live to see the day of a six figure Chevrolet. Hey that kind of rhymes. Off to write a song about Corvettes.

Might be a day late and dollar short on your prediction of getting good money for the new Z06's, Dan, as 1 dealer out here in So kali this last weekend advertised a 3 day only sale of $10K off of MSRP on 10 new '08 Z06's. I think that both GM and the dealers are starting to hurt somewhat. I think that some of the vette forum dealers have been giving pretty healthy discounts for a while now. I told myself Fri night that if I came across 1 at $10K off MSRP I was just going to sit down and cut a check, but sticker shock started setting in.

With my hesitation I lucked out last summer...in June I wanted a SRT8 Charger they were $52k plus the dealer $5k markup (they said they were selling them for 10k over list but it was my lucky day) I hestitated and went on holidays for three weeks, when I returned Chrysler implemented employee pricing and lots of incentives ...I bought the SRT8 Charger for $42k...my three week summer holiday saved me $17k (plus $2k in taxes)

The car didn't live up to my expectations and I sold it three months later for $46k (lost about 1k due to taxes in the end)

Same thing could happen this year again with the Challengers ??

those Z06s fly !!! yes some dealers are dealing now.. Me??? I'd hold out till Nov/Dec when its really dead :p oh wait a min... I don't NEED any more cars

The last I had heard, the 6 speed cars wouldn't be available with MDS. At least not in the R/T, didn't think about the srt when I was looking into it. The R/T with the 6 speed is supposed to be the "track pack" with better rear end gearing, sure grip, and no MDS. The automatic cars will be open diff and airplane gears with MDS. I want a 6 speed R/T pretty bad, but the wife and all my friends say no. I'd have to sell the GN, AND come up with $15-20K for a car that'd sit in the garage the same amount.

Guess I'll just wait until they are 15 year old beaters to pick one up and flog it mercilessly.

The Avenger, Journey and Challenger were all new for 2008. As far as Dodge's anyway.
