The Avenger, Journey and Challenger were all new for 2008. As far as Dodge's anyway.

It still aint enough to pull peeps into the dealers. I'm with the arm chair analists on the Challenger. After the newness wears off than Dodge will be begging people to buy them. Wait another year assuming Dodge is still in business for the $10K rebates.

Kinda like the $10k rebates on the SRT Chargers...(that have never had a rebate).??

BTW...How's GM's portfolio...still closing plants right and left?

I love how people who don't know what they are talking about love to interject opinions...

Hard to get now because they just came out... It's not like these vehicles are a limited run.

The ones out now ARE actually a limited run. They decided to put out only 6000 of these cars with their hi-po engine for this year only. Each car is numbered on the dash. I saw one on E-Bay that was # 82 for around $56k. Next year, they're putting out the R/T version and the 6 banger version. Ford did it the other way around. When the new body style came out a couple years ago, you rarely saw a GT on the lot. It was always the 6 cyl and 6 cyl convertibles. I remember the dealers complaining about people wanting to buy GT's, and them not even knowing when they would ever get one.
Anyway, that's how it was explained to me by the owner of a Dodge dealership. I'm curious to know what # the car is 8AV8 has on his lot. I do work for different dealerships everyday as my job. I will say this... I finally saw this car in person the other day, and it's reeeeeally nice.

I had opportunity to check out one of the 3 pre-release Challengers at the big West Coast Mopar show a couple of months ago and I would rather use the $50 K or so for a down payment towards a '08 Z06 at $10K off of MSRP than I would pay any over list for the Challenger. It's $40K something nice, not $50K something nice.

So would you like me to price you on a z06? We have several lines to sell from. Are you in the market? Or just dreamin'?

Can get a Ford GT also...

It's so cool to hear all these opinions. I was just trying to see if anyone on this board wanted to buy one for less than I see them going for elsewhere. Ours sold for $52,995 yesterday.

Guess it IS $50k nice,,,to somebody that can afford it.

Better shape than Chrysler's.
June Auto Sales: Chrysler sales plunge - Forbes.com
Anyone thinking of a new car should wait till September.

Great!!! The Big Three are all about to belly up. The economy is in the sh!tter. At least some of them are trying some forward thinking designs to possibly perk up sales. GM has had the TA and Camaro for years. Dodge hasn't had an entry in the 2 door hot rod market in years. I think its cool that they have gone back to a HP program that was good at one point in their history. Yeah...the hype will die down and you will be able to get one for $40k. At least they didn't put a V8 in a Grand Am and call it a GTO.

Certainly you can price me a Z06, but it really won't do much good for either you or I as I can get just about as good of a deal out here in Kali, if not now, shortly down the road, and there is various opinions on the vette forum as to whether you can bring a new vette or any car from out of state that doesn't have the calif sticker. Glad for you that yours sold for $53K. I am happy for you, but keep in mind that just because yours sold for $53, that does not make it a $53K car. That made it a $53K car for somebody that wanted it more than their $53K. And just because someone bought it for $53K doesn't mean that the majority of peeps can of cannot afford $ 53K. And no, I don't have $$ for a Ford GT. Wish that I did though.

Here's a detailed scan of the brochure.

Sign me up for a Stone White SE, I'll landau roof it and slap a turbo on it.

What determines what something is worth?

It's worth what somebody will pay for it....whatever it is...it's only worth what you can get for it.

I think my watch is worth $50,000 because it appraised for that. The most anybody in the world will pay for it is $5.00. Is it worth $50,000 or $5.00?

If somebody looks on Kelley Blue Book and their car is valued at $10,000 but nobody in the world will give that...is it worth $10k?

It's a $53k car. Ask the guy who bought it.

Is a mint 200 mile GNX worth $100k? ... If somebody will pay that. It's not worth it to me because of the sacrifices I'd have to make to get my hands on 100 large. The guy with a mansion on the hill...maybe it's worth it to him.

Still...stuff is only "worth" what you can get for it.

Hey, I resemble that remark!!

While the GTO may not be the best looker, it is head and shoulders above the mustang and the camaro/bird cars in terms of quality. I was 5 minutes from buying a 300 SRT8 but the one thing I didn't like about the car was the interior looked cheap for a $20k car let alone a $45k car. A buddy of mine has a charger SRT8 and was raving about how much nicer my interior is in my GTO. Have taken several people for rides, and the comment I always get is "this is a NICE car". Then again most people can associate, its a love or hate relationship with the turbo buicks. Its either a pos grandma car from the 80s or its a mean machine.

I think it looks good.

Chrysler is finally listening to the masses complaining about cheap looking interiors. They opened up a huge interior design studio and added some people to help get a better interior in a car without adding design time. Their first project to hit the streets will be the 09 ram, though they did have a part in the chalenger interior update.

I don't know when or how it will happen, but I WILL own a 6 speed R/T, preferably black but if i'm buying used it'll be hard to be picky on color. I priced out a new one yesterday, My price (invoice) is $29K adding only the 6 speed/track pak to the R/T package, for about a grand. Mom (the dealer) thought I was nuts to want a stick and no upgrades (it would have cloth seats). I told her if I could get radio delete, crank windows and dog dish hubcaps i'd do that too. Buying used would probably not require that I sell the GN, but if it had to happen to get one I am fully prepared to make that sacrifice.

i live in michigan and see challengers runnin around every now and then. they look stunning but they are waaaayy to big and bulky. i have a lowered 300c and i parked next to a challenger and the challenger dwarfed my car. if dodge would have shed some weight on them they could suprise a lot of people.

I haven't seen one in real life yet. When the first pics came out a few years ago, I got all wet. There hasn't been a brand new car since the GN came out where I saw the pics in a magazine and said "I got to have one of those!" The new Challenger was the first time since '86 that I said that to myself. 20+ years of not liking any new car enough to want something besides my GN. Now, finally, here's a new car I might like!

Then a couple of months ago I read the Hot Rod review... 4100 lbs??? What was the expected mileage in town? In the 13-15 mpg range? And I forget the quarter mile times, but I wasn't all that impressed with them whatever they were. Damn, the dream just died. They need to trim about 500-600 lbs out of that thing, and they ought to be embarrassed to let a car out the door (even with a high perf engine) that gets mileage THAT bad. A weight loss program would help that too. Whatever the case, I guess the GN will stay my driver for a while longer... It's a dang shame, because I've been really looking forward to this thing for a long while.

What else will run a 13.00-13.20 off the showroom? Maybe a hybrid that will run 13.20's and get 50 miles to the gallon is just around the corner...I doubt it though. Funny how ya just can't please everybody...
