Can anyone point me to a website for more info to swap a 200R4 into a GM A body? I have a fairly beat trans I want to get rebuilt very mildly and put it in my '70 El Camino.

Thanks for any info.

When I put a 200-4R into my wife's 72 Cutlass, I just moved the crossmember back to the TH400 position and slightly curled the trans lines and bolted it in. Same driveshaft, shift linkage (column shift). Set up the lockup for 4th gear operation only. I bought a TV cable bracket for an 86 442 to fit the Q-jet and that was about the extent of it. I used my old D5 out of my 85 GN.

Thank you much guys! I thought I heard somewhere about using the same crossmember, just putting it in the 400 spot, but I didn't believe it... My trans is a non-lockup, so I don't have to worry about plugging anything into the trans, right? I will try to find that out on the site listed.

Thanks again!

If you have any questions camino, our installer has a '71 elkie he did the exact change your are talking about. Give us a call if you have any questions and I will put you in touch with him.

Thanks Mark,
I will probably be calling. Everywhere I look has a bunch of hear-say and no real answers. The places I find quasi-answers want to sell you something that is 'needed' for the install.

I think I am going to go for it and cross the bridges when I get there. I ordered a new speedo cable and found a bracket at the local parts store in the back for carb applications that fits the stock TV cable, which I have an extra:) That should just about do me, move the crossmember to the 400 holes and I have a non lockup, so no need for any wiring. We'll see. I may try it this weekend...

Good deal Ron. Good luck and like I say, call if you need. We are here Mon thru Fri. My R & R guy loves having the overdrive with his new 383 stroker and 3:73 gears.

I got the tranny rebuilt and they made it back to a lock up for me and a buddy is letting me have his old D5:)

What do I need to do to allow me to use the lock up function?

Thanks again!!!
