3" single shot exhaust?

Friend has one. Very loud and mean sounding. Scares off all his races. Drones bad! I like it!! Pitbull muffler.

Overall people say it makes for a good mean sound, but is a bad set-up if exhaust drone annoys you.

I have one and it sucks...drone drone drone drone drone.....if you ever drive the car dont get one.

I ran the ATR 3" single shot on my old Limited. Yes, it sounded mean as all get out, yes it droned. VERY BADLY. I'll tell you this, I drove that car to the Nats in '98, one way from MS to BG was around 490 miles. I only stopped for gas one time in Tuscaloosa, drove straight through. When I arrived at the hotel in BG and I got out of the car, the drone was so loud my ears were ringing and I could barely stand up straight. My equilibrium was shot and people thought I'd been drinking. :redface:
Yes, that system flows great, yes it sounds mean, no I would never recommend it to anyone that would travel for more than 1 hour in their car.
There are guys who have claimed that they were able to eliminate alot of the drone by simply running another flow through style muffler in place of the converter with single shot exhaust systems, but doing so would eliminate the provision for a test pipe.

I'm sold. Trailer the car to the track, and only drive it maybe 30 minutes to an hour for a few shows. Paint needed badly. I only care about going fast, and this car will be built up again in 2 years. Thanks for the input! I love this board a lot more than, well I'll leave it at that. Thanks

I just got my car drove it less than 200 miles... with a single 3'' exhaust not recommend it because of the drone....after reading the previous posts I was wondering if it was the muffler?(flowmaster) (thats what I have)

maybe the question is not single or duel .... but the components ????

I'm givin it a try. Average maybe 500 miles a year? Like a icecream getter. But quick enough to get it home before it melts

I like mine. Flows great, weighs nothing and my drone isn't that bad. On the highway when I get to 65-70mph it's gone. Only really drones around 50-55

Mine is the same, no muffler but a resonator. Windows down, radio up.

I have the 3" single shot from ATR w/ the pitbull muffler. The drone is horrific! It wasnt so bad with the stock converter but the 3200 L/U thats in there now its real bad. Im contemplating just going with the Hooker duals from Summit and getting rid of this system. It does flow real nice tho and doesnt weight very much. It just depends on how much hearing you have left. BTW my girlfriend hates it, gives her a headache everytime she rides in the car. This is either a good thing or a bad thing depending how much you like your significant other.

To be honest with you, I have no idea what it is though. When I bought the car the post said it looked like an "old-school G S C A single muffler cat back with stainless tips", whatever that means.

It's in good shape.... *shrug*

It's hold you over until you really wanted the Hooker setup

ATR 3" single shot with the Pitbull muffler, got that exhaust on my car too. It was already in place when I purchased the car. Yes, it does drone around 50 mph. But it sounds real good around 30, cruising the boulevard. Along with the sinister black paint, it makes those pony cars think twice about coming out to play.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything! I've scared off a Z06 Vette with this exhaust and the cutout about half open. You will scare off little kids, and little cars (Honda, Eclipse, etc) Every one of my friends that know GNs compliment the sound of mine and no one at the track believes that its a V6. Watch out for the Po Po though....they no likey :biggrin:

i have a 3.5" custom single out the drivers side behind the rear wheel and it sounds great. I wouldnt change it for anything. Never heard the 3" but its gotta be pretty close. Good luck.

I love mine, the sound is awesome! I get at least one person, every time I drive the car, that says "that thing sounds awesome man!!" the drone isnt that bad. I'm used to mean sounding V8's though!

Mufflers...smufflers who needs them? I run 3 inch pipe right off the downpipe dumped at the rear axle. No muffler, cat nothing. I have an ATR single shot in the box I'll install someday......
