Did any of the OE 4.1 liter engines get a 2 bbl. from the factory? I found an 81 lesabre 4 door in the junkyard today, VIN was correct for a 4.1 (vin 4 i think). Said 4.1 on the emissions sticker. but it had a 2 bbl. on it and it didn't look like one that someone hacked in there. Was this original? It's too cluttered to find a casting #, and I forgot to look for knock sensor provision. Also what percentage of 4.1s had the proper turbo crank?

They did say they'd cut it outta there and set it in my truck for a total of $150. Sounds fair if its legit.

Engine is still there, thinking about going after it, but its in a tough spot, they'd have to move a half dozen cars just for me to get a look under it at a casting number. Saw this thread and thought i'd bump it to get fresh input.

Look for the "4.1L' cast into the block. Divers side I think. I wouldn't go with only the emission sticker and VIN. The car is over 30 years old so anything could have happened. Good deal on the engine though. Around here that would be $300 and I would have to pull it.

Bob, all 4.1's had the 4 barrel carb.

That's what I thought had been posted before. So this thing puzzled me, wonder if it had a whole engine swap or just the top end. Need to bring a mirror and a good flashlight and try to peek at a casting number somewhere. There's also an 87 there that "should" be a 109 motor, but there's been stuff changed under the hood of it too ( fan shroud and stuff isnt right and says 1984 5.0 liter on the emission sticker.) WANT to go grab the pair but gotta do a lot of detective work first.
