That's right.....as far as I know this is the first 4 second 1/8 mile pass on radials and stock suspension. It happened last night at an ORSCA race in Albany GA. Shane Stack put his stock suspension 87 Monte Carlo into the 4.90's. It's a SBC with a single turbo and SB2.2 heads. He's been sorting the combo for less than 2 months. 60' was only a 1.33 so there is still room for more. He has chose not to go to Orlando. His car is certed to 7.50 but could exceed that. He feels his car is not safe enough since it still has the 10 point style cage for what could be a 7.30 pass at near 200mph. Even with a decent pass he could go 7.60 at 190 and doesn't feel right doing it in his car. I don't blame him.

Dusty,

This thing is sick, he needs a 25.2 cage with the kind of power he is making.
Now when you do this will your set up next year, I will crack open a bottle of my finest Mountain Dew!

a 25.2 is no good at 3400#. That is absolutely flying, BIG congrats to him! Those SB2.2 heads are lethal on a forced ind. engine.

Bill,

You are right, there does not seem to be a spec for these cars.

25.1E Full Bodied Car Tube Chassis – 7.49 Seconds & Quicker; 2,800 lbs. Maximum

25.2 Full Bodied Car Tube Chassis – 7.49 Seconds & Quicker; 3,200 lbs. Maximum

25.4 Full Bodied Car Tube Chassis – 7.50 to 8.49 Seconds; 3,600 lbs. Maximum

25.5 Full Bodied Car Stock or Modified/OEM Floorpan and Firewall with OEM Frame or Uni-Body Construction – 7.50 to 8.49 Seconds; 3,600 lbs. Maximum

He can get his car to 3200 and go with a 25.2 but none of the orgs will let a turbo car run that light. Maybe they should raise the weight from 3200 to 3300 or more.

There is a trick to getting the SB2 heads to work with timing but as well as it's working I think that's gonna stay on the low low

MOST drag radial stuff requires 3400# theyare at least trying to keep that consistant. My new engine has SB2.2 heads on it

I was gonna wait to see how Shane's combo worked out before deciding what to do with my own. Now that I'm stuck spending my head money on repairs from the wreck it may be next year before I can change the combo.

Here in ORSCA we can weigh 3300 with a single. Shane's done LOTS of things to get it down that low. He has to add a little weight to make 3300. Mine's still a full body/interior and went 3475 at the last race. I don't want to cut mine up but may have to.

I still can't believe these M/T radials are doing this. Limited Street runs a 29.5x10.5 with 4 link suspension/ back half cars. The top runners are twin turbo or huge N2O motors......Shane could have also qualified #1 in L/S  He's only got some adjustable uppers and lowers with shocks in the stock location and the anti-roll bar. The car had been a 1.19 60' on the radials with the old SB2 N20 combo

Dusty, I am curious, does the car stand up or leave smoothly?

Yes

He didn't officially set a new et record because it stood up on the next pass and elims were rained out. His nick name is Thrill Billy, it goes straight one pass and on the bumper the next.

It will stand up when the boost comes all the way in, sometimes 150 feet or more down the track. It's had a bad MSD box for the past month or so. He went 5 teens and .20's at our last race on 7 cylinders....at 147mph

That thing is a monster  Thanks for the vids!

HOLY SH!T that is just plain sick!!!! Really wish he would bring it to Orlando, but I certainly don't blame him for not.. Hopefully he will eventually update the chassis and get it to a 1/4 mile track so we can see how it does out the back end!
