4L60E in a 1999 SUBURBAN 1500 4x4 with only 135K miles won't shift. HELP

I put the shifter in D, OD or into any gear and go.
The truck stays stuck in First unless I OVER rev it then it would shift to “my guess 3rd or 4th and then I can move at 60 MPH but at 2500 RPM, and once I slow down it goes back to first and it’s a chore to try and get it back into high gear.
Is there a temporary patch or quick fix for this thing?

Nope. I forget exactly what fails that causes that, but it's rebuild time nothing else to do about it.

Same exact symptoms in my 2002 Yukon with 4L60E trans about 55k miles. The sun ring gear broke. Trans must be replaced or rebuilt. If it is rebuilt, make sure they put in the later model heat treated replacement parts. This is a known failure mechanism in the 4L60E through the late 80's, 90's and early 2000's. GM finally addressed the issue with heat treated parts in 04 or 05. There is also aftermarket beef-ier parts - "The Beast" is one name.

No 2nd, 3rd, 4th or reverse = Stripped sun shell splines/rebuild time.
No 1-2 shift but 1-3 after revving past normal shift point= Shift solinoid or Broken 2/4 band, drop pan for solinoid, rebuild for band, good luck.

In my case the sun shell symptoms were: no 2nd, 4th/OD, or Rev. Could get 3rd by over rev'ing 1st and feathering gas at RPM. Also heard a loud "pop" at the exact moment sun shell broke.

hopefully yours is a solinoid.
 
I stand corrected, Krazy86T is right, would still have 3rd with stripped shell, my bad. Dead give away is no reverse in combination of no 2nd or 4th.

I am going to have it replaced but my Trans guy can't get me in until the 16th:mad: and I have to do some running around with out of town family and this was my ride.:mad::mad:
the Reverse is still good
Anyway how do I check the solenoid? I pull the pan then what?
 
Man, you seem to be having all kinds of tranny problems. If you can I'd see about upgrading to the 4L80E myself. Much better equipment for such a heavy vehicle.

99 Sub- this thread
90 work van inspection just expired- I never ever check this stuff
68 chevelle Trans is dead
01 GTP - BIG oil leak-out of the valve covers and intake.
