is this right? every time I change my oil it takes 6.5 quarts to get to full on the dipstick and the book only calls for 5 quarts. Is my dipstick off or do the TTA's always take more than 5 quarts?

I recently bought a TTA. When I changed the oil it appeared low after putting in 5 quarts. So I added another 1 1/2 qts. This maybe too much? My engine is now smoking like a chimney. I don't know if it is just coincidental that blow by started just after adding oil or if a ring just happened to break.

Way to much oil!!!! 5 1/2 max. Your dipstick tube may not be in the block all the way. It is held in with a 13mm nut on a driver header bolt.

I checked, thought the same thing, but the rolled bead in the tube is against the machined portion of the block. couldn't go in any further. Guess I will just have to make a note of where 5 1/2 quarts is on the dipstick and go from there.
