6152 boost control

Just put on the 6152 with the S cover and .63 exhaust housing. The WG that "should" be on it is the standard one, since I am planning on 18 PSI or so to start. With the wastgate set to minimum boost, it looks like trouble keeping the boost level down.
I have the stock downpipe with a stock location crossflow muffler and test pipe.
Question: Am I missing something to help me keep the boost level down?

whats the # on the wastegate. i have a 6152 as well and i couldnt get the boost under 20 with a HD gate. tonight i was going to put the stock one back on and see what happens but i have to change the bracket

what is the boost going up to?

i have a 6152 and with my actuator i could hold 13psi if i wanted to?! what is the boost on the chip set for... maybe the wastegate actuator is bleeding pressure to try to acheive a higher amount of boost then you have the wastegate set for... i saw you had an alky kit so i assume it is 20+psi. hth

Boost level

Initially I got 26. With zero preload it is now 23.
Numbers on the WG are 45813 1011673 06086

Pete it's a 6157 turbo,not a 6152. :wink: And yes I saw 26-27 psi with 1/8 preload on the waistgate. Boost control is via extender chip. Set it to zero preload and it came down to 23 psi last nite.

unplug the wires from the boost solenoid and see what the boost is.


What is the chip number?

Remove the vacuum line going to the WG solenoid and plug it....it is possible the solenoid is bringing boost up.....

If it is the chip controlling the boost level, great. Will set it to the best conservative boost level that the turbo and combination is happy with. I am still interested in any boost creep issues, and if the exhaust is going to be overly restrictive at high boost levels.

1 more thing..it's an "E" cover not an "S":biggrin: I suspect there will be some boost creep maybe 2-3 lbs but that remains to be seen. The alky is progressive so it will add more alky and protect things as long as the tune stays close.
