It should stall around 3200 so it may be fine. It worked well in Damon's car. He was seeing a nice rpm drop and it spooled very well. Ed's car is different and is why most companies will give you a free stall change. There are variables that make converters behave differently. Even more so I'm finding with the 200r trannies. Even with the exact combo, elevation etc, there can be a 200-400 rpm difference from car to car. Trying a certain converter and getting data from your own car helps trememdously.

yeah after seeing this thread kinda starting to wonder i just got that PTC 3400 non lock up from Dusty

Lets not get all excited yet about this 6776/converter issue. Every car is different and Dusty is doing is best to try and match the converters to their respective combos. These new Ball bearing turbos are kind of new to the TR's and its going to take time to figure them out. I will be pulling mine out this weekend and then when they cut it open the story will be told. Its either a bad converter or I just need less stall. Period. And thats the price you pay for racing.

Thats the reason you get one restall when you buy a conveter because most of the time its hit and miss. And remember you have to go to the track to find out how your car works. My butt dyno said my car was going to run some 11.20's at least. But you know what...the street will not tell you the whole story. My point is this: Everyone out there who has a converter that you think will work with your combo..take it to the track. Only under absolute WOT, third gear, motor under full load conditions will see what is working for you and what is not. I would not change, send back or pull any converters based on this thread and MY experience at the track with MY combo. As Dusty has preached to me: Every combo is different and what works for one person will not work for another. Only Testing and Tuning will show that.

Ed, no need to bold the 90MPH in the sig....we know it will run;)

Well Taylor I didnt want them to stop reading after they see 11.90....lets them know that I'm doing something right.....:D

I have gone through 9-10 different converters over the last few years with different cars, I can only remember maybe one or two which were a good match to the combos we were using the rest were miles off. Sounds like Dusty has hit the nail on the head more times than I can count, that being said when I recieve my 9.5 N/L there is a very good chance it will be spot on the first time which to me a bonus, no big deal if it isn't. Dusty/PTC's track record speaks for itself. If it needs to go back it will come back on target. Many of the converters I used and also hear stories about miss the mark over and over.

Well after alot of discussion a desicion was made. I sent my converter off to be restalled to a 2800. I installed it Sunday and I finally got to open it up a little bit and do some general stop and go. All I can say is WOW! My car spools up so fast its crazy. I cant beleive what a difference having a good load on the motor will make. Just giving it 1/2 throttle to leave from a redlight it will spool to 20 psi. It seems like it wants to spool for no reason just driving it with a only a little extra throttle. Dont get me wrong it spool good before but now it even sounds different. You can tell the converter is more efficient.

It will hold the back tires to 2900 in my driveway on the footbrake.. It will drop about 800-900 rpms between shifts at mid to 3/4 throttle. I did not go to my "spot" to WOT yet but that will be later on in the week. Dusty I think you nailed it my man. Thanks a million.

I was just going to PM you to see how the new `verter feels.
Glad to hear it is looking good!:D

Thanks for all of your input also Brian.

Drove it some more. It will build 5 psi@ 2900 rpms on the footbrake then just launch and jump to 23 psi REAL FAST. I really dont think my sixty foot will be hurt too much.

Ed,

You are going to have to change your signature real soon.
It sounds like your converter issues are a thing of the past.
Good luck and please continue the updates.

This is good news Ed. Glad you kept plugging away and got it all sorted out. Too bad it took a few converters to get it like you wanted but obviously your MAF issue was the culprit to the no spooling in the beginning. Sounds like things are going your way now.

I dont want to get too excited yet...the track is going to tell the real story.

Hopefully it will do what its supposed to do . Thnaks again.

Ed,

What ever happened with the TCS 9x11??

This is my last post on this thread till I go to the track and get some real numbers.

I just wanted to say that I got to do some WOT runs and the car feels great. The turbo spools on the footbrake from 45mph instantly. RPMs are dropping accordingly between shifts. It will spool up real fast from a dead launch so I realy cant say how hard it pulls in first or second gear because its just frying the tires.:D

All in all I think these new generation of Ball bearing turbos dont need as much converter as originally thought. Turbo6 will be in BG next week and give some real 6776dbb and 2800 stall E.T. & MPH numbers for us.

I'm up and running with the new motor and BB6776 turbo
Boy this turbo sure different than the TE44
The Protorque 2800 works great for the street
Gotta put the MTDR's on I can bust the tires loose at 75 and half throttle:eek:
Let's see how 87Nat does at the track

No sense in waiting for track results when this turbo has already been proven. My times in my sig are with a stock 60k mile shortblock. That was letting of right after the 1/8th mile.

Otto has been a 10.84 @127.5 with pretty much the same combo.

I'll be posting results next week with my new motor. Should be very good if everthing goes right. I'm not limited by the stock shortblock any more.

Yes I saw Otto's time Art Carr convertor he said, stall was?
I'm just interested in the 2800 stall with the BB67

what's the boost setting ? and what rpm do you see full boost ? thanks

I haven't raced my setup yet 20 psi for the street
When I do race it, I'll add the second nossle ALKY
