'73 Chrysler 440 and tranny. How much $$?

I've got it in my garage and am looking to sell it Complete engine with tranny bolted to it,sitting on a dolly. (the dolly isn't liking it).

It ran great. Pulled it out of a rusted NY'er with 100k. Unmolested.

I've got a guy interested in it,but I don't know what to tell him for a price.

I pickled it with tranny fluid in the plug holes once I pulled it out. The plugs are in finger tight. Remove the plugs and it will turn over by hand.

How much $$ should I tell the guy?

not much... they are rated at something like 7.5:1 compression and pretty damn gutless for an engine of that size. so the motor is worth maybe a couple hundred, trans about the same..

Gee.. I would have guessed that it is worth more than $400 for both.

Afterall,there is a useable block there if someone didn't want to use it as is. It's not easy finding good blocks. A new one from MoPar Perf is $$$.

The tranny is a big block tranny..

I would think it was worth more than $400.00 as well. Anyone looking to do a restoration with a period correct engine would have a hard time finding a matching set for that kind of money. I may be wrong ....

Find a Mopar event and take it there to sell it or post it for sale on a Mopar board.

My guess would have been about $400 for both. Try going on Moparts.com and see what it will bring.

Call a automotive machine shop and ask somebody there what they go for...or look around on Craigslist for some prices on 440's. Good luck.

Its pretty much just a core to most people. Cast crank and not so great heads, not a desireable year and not an HP engine. HP meaning the block would be stamped so if it came from a Charger or cop car.
